Rejection disappointment: Puss in Boots Soundtrack (Resolved)
« on: August 14, 2009, 12:13:41 PM »
This was just rejected: http://bakabt.me/details.php?id=147458
Reason: We've decided not to allow it, since it's unofficial

This came as a real surprise!

How is it not official if is taken from the official DVD? Oh, and I've done this before... I've put some more comments on the torrent and I want answers.

Do you mean I should offer the unsplit OFFICIAL DVD SOUNDTRACK in AC3?

Where in Wiki does it say that the soundtrack has to come from DVD?

Working on Puss in Boots 2, 3, Joe Hiaishi in Budokan BluRay, Cagliostro BluRay and Laputa, but feel pretty dispirited at the moment...

This is a surprise indeed.

If the soundtrack came from the official DVD, I think it should be accepted.

I know at least one example of this case: the Rideback lossless collection. The OST was never sold as an individual package but was included in the DVD of volume 1.

I am planning of adding several soundtracks for my Seto no Hanayome OST collection which came from the DVDs but seeing how this came out, I now fear if my swap will be accepted.

BTW neo, you're making Cagliostro Bluray? 1080p? Dual Audio?

Yes, yes, maybe. :) The BluRay has only the Japanese soundtrack (in PCM 2.0, DTS 5.1 and AC3 5.1) and no English subs.
I thought of taking 2 versions of English soundtracks from my DVD and from a file creamstar sent me. Japanese track will be in DTS 5.1 (or AC3 5.1 - they are the same size), FLAC 2.0 (lossless!), and MP3 2.0 (for compatibility). The English subs will come from the DVD, Japanese - from BluRay. I feel tempted taking niizk's subs, but that may be frowned upon... And I plan on offering these encodes in 1080p, 720p (in addition to niizk's) and standard resolution (720x408 or something like that, to replace the current SD version as the BlyRay-based one will be crisper and have fewer artefacts).

However, at the moment I feel very frustrated and need to blow some steam off.....

Yours might have a chance, depending on how they were presented on the DVD. My track was one of the streams in the film. I took it, split it, extracting the distinct musical scores and songs and put on offer here. 3-4 hour job down the drain.

If someone still wants it, you can download this torrent: http://bakabt.me/torrent/147352/Puss_in_Boots_-_Nagagutsu_wo_Haita_Neko.html demux the MP3 version of the complete soundtrack and split it yourself. :(

EDIT: I have changed the wording of the OST torrent's description and title. It should be good to go now.

EDIT 2: [sarcasm] Maybe from now on we should offer complete CD images in one FLAC file, as a CD, split into individual tracks, might not be official enough [/sarcasm]

I'll be waiting for the SD version  ;D

I don't it was niizk's. It was THORA's. I think they used the subs that were included in riitchan's (which were edited from TOMA's) version. I don't think THORA would mind if you used their subs. They don't give a damn about those things unlike a certain person I know ::)

I don't know if it's really worth making a 1080p version though. Some of the people I asked said the 1080p will be an upscale.

You can also just send me the English audio tracks. I can add them to the 720p torrent in a swap. I can attach a script (or at least instructions) that can mux the audio tracks to the THORA's. That way you can focus on the 1080p.

I remember the guy who requested an HD, dual-audio cagliostro movie several months ago. He'll be jumping up and down with glee. :)

Yes, you are right, THORA, it is...
The source BlueRay m2ts file is in 1920x1080i MBAFF. Doing 720p would not be much different from doing SD - just changing the resize instruction in the script :)

I think you're misunderstanding something. Either that or the staff is misunderstanding something. The soundtrack that neo offered did not "come with" the DVD on a separate disc, it was taken from a soundtrack only track on the DVD itself. Based off of your wording, it sounds like the soundtracks you're mentioning are on separate CDs packaged with the DVD, no? Similar to the Kara no Kyoukai soundtracks. If this is indeed the case for the Puss in Boots soundtrack, please clear that up and we'll unreject it right away.

Edit: Clarifying. Soundtracks that are included as a bonus, special, extra, etc. CD with a the DVD release are fine. Kara no Kyoukai is one of the more well known examples of that. The biggest difference in this case is that it's an audio stream taken from the DVD and split into tracks. It's not a soundtrack released officially by the company as a bonus or separately.

No, it was a track from the DVD video stream, which stored only music and songs in Japanese. The sound was extracted without any alteration, so it is as official as it can get.
Still, this has been done before and we have two other precedents on BBT. I was also going to do it for the lossless Joe Hisaishi in Budokan (25 Years of Ghibli) BluRay track, but now I am not so sure...

Yeah I realized that after neo clarified it. That's why I didn't bother posting about it again.

The issue has been resolved: the split soundtrack is now a part of the film torrent as an extra.
The film torrent has been swapped and can be downloaded from here: http://bakabt.me/torrent/147352/Puss_in_Boots_-_Nagagutsu_wo_Haita_Neko.html
(Only the music files were added - you can resume seeding the video file as it remains unchanged.)

PS: The Cagliostro project is going along nicely...
