The documentaries present Japanese culture in general, not the specific part of Japanese culture called manga/anime. Just because anime/manga is referenced there doesn't mean it's related to these.
I say the parts discussing anime/manga should be accepted. As for the rest, I don't think they are related enough.
I'm not against it because I don't want to see it. I'm very much interested it presents. I simply think that the current rules should be followed. Accepting the whole thing bends the rules very much.

Anime/anime merchandise is featured in every episode (not sure about comedy+bad girls ep, but they have cosplays), and some sort of cosplay/manga in most episodes. I haven't seen the extras yet.
