It's a pity if you base you watching decision on video format - that way you risk missing out on a lot of great shows. This is the only recording of this particular show...

By the looks of it, almost all episode have either Manga or Anime reference. In addition to culture references, which help excplaining the backgroung for many of the phenomenons, which are mentioned in various anime shows.

It would be difficult to take parts discussing anume/manga as you would have to clip almost every episode, taking bits from different parts of each episode. Just search for "anime" and "manga" string in that Wikipedia page...
It's not that we ask to break or bend the rules. It's more like going onto another plane altogether and creating a special category (Background Watch :) ) with only this show in it.
PS.: I've included a part of episode 1x02 in http://bakabt.me/torrent/143498/Hayao_Miyazaki_and_Studio_Ghibli_Extras_Collection.html (look under Misc folder) as it was about anime in general and has an interview of Hayao Miyazaki in particular. I also plan to include an extract of 3x05 (with Spirited Away and Pom Poko) in the next swap.

Based on the episode guide, it seems to be focused on a certain theme each episode and they use anime/manga (in addition to other things) as an example to help show whatever they are saying. So in effect, it doesn't really fit under our rules, as most of you have realized.
And I know some of you are asking for it being some sort of special category, but it's not like we have any focus at all on Japanese culture (we don't even have a forum section on this). So unless we change the focus of the site in that direction, it doesn't fit here, no matter how well it is done.
Also, I'd be wary of the fact that it is done by BBC in case they ever want to pursue us for copyright infringement...

The last comment made me snort a little.. ;D What about the rest of the content on this site, such as stuff from Ghibli/Disney? :P
