Neo-Con Glenn Beck's future doesn't look so bright
« on: August 17, 2009, 09:45:45 PM »
Geico and few other companies pulled their advertisements from the Glen Beck show last week because of his insanity. (Note: I absolutely hate Glenn Beck with a passion. Even more than Ann Coulter. Literally everything he stands for, is wrong. He is the embodiment of everything wrong with fox news, the republican ideals [social conservatism] and America.)

Well it seems eight more major advertisers have pulled their support from Glenn Beck's show -- Wal-Mart, Best Buy, CVS, Travelocity, Allergan (maker of Restasis), Ally Bank, Broadview Security, and Re-Bath. Overall, twenty advertisers have now ended their support of Beck.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/james-rucker/wal-mart-cvs-best-buy-dit_b_261424.html

Crazy people shouldn't be allowed prime spots on TV. Your mothers and fathers, aunts and uncles watch this shit, and actually believe what he says... They further perpetuate this by the retelling of his ignorance to their friends and family. People wonder why half our population are morons and voted for Bush twice? Because of people like him and Rush spouting outright lies and propaganda.

I hope this becomes a trend.

I too hate Glenn Beck to an extreme!

The man spews out nothing but hate speeches. People tries to defend him and the fox news network by calling what those absurd bastards say as criticism but there is a big difference between criticism and a hate speech. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/larry-gellman/the-difference-between-cr_b_255797.html

These people are just trying to start riots and false anger by misinforming the public and promoting a very hateful attitude. I hope this with finally convince all those companies to ditch not just Glenn Beck but the whole Fox News network.

I rather live in Cuba than these people's idea of a perfect America...I mean, their ideal America seems awful in my opinion.

Unfortunately, non of this will do any good. As long as Beck keeps bringing in the ratings, some companies will always be willing to pay for the advertising slots.

Ratings don't automatically equal advertisers. Especially the kind of high dollar ones Fox news is looking to attract. They'll still advertise on fox, and fox will still make money, but it sends a message to fox and a potent one. We don't want any part of that loon.

And the advertisers are the ones paying Fox news bills. :P

They've stated that they haven't lost any money so far; it's just been shifted around.

If the majority of Americans weren't so fucking ignorant Beck wouldn't have a show to begin with. Companies pulling their advertisements from his show doesn't fix the underlying problem of stupidity.

It's fun to bash Fox, but keep in mind all the news shows/channels are equally as retarded. Just last night I watched an MSNBC clip on YouTube and the dumbass host wouldn't shut up and let his guest speak, and I would say he was putting words in the guest's mouth as well.

Thank god we have the Internet, it's the only place to find real news anymore.

I think John Stewart and Stephen Colbert are (genuinely) the best news pundits on the air.

Glenn Beck is fucking retarded, as are most of the Fox "News" guys.

The linear nature of your Euclidean geometry both confounds and befuddles me.

There is a lot more genuine information on the Internet than the television or radio. Sure, it may take you half a decade to find it, but at least it's there. At least you can find alternative viewpoints and angles on a subject fairly easy on the Internet; on the television and radio you get what the big media corporations want you to get and nothing else.

At least some of the Fox gals are bangable. Not that one chick who has the Elvis lip going on. Not her.

Sorry, nates, I just don't think I've seen a real journalist report something in a long, long time. Real, unbiased, unopinionated, solid fact reporting died.

Not perfect, but better than anything you'll get on the TV. There are a couple other sites/YouTube channels out there I've come across that aren't bad, but I don't recall them at the moment.

<3 BBC World News Channel. They're not perfect, but it's the best you'll get.

I second that there.

Other than being centered around Africa whenever I hear them ... :\

( Personally, I wouldn't mind the likes of Mugabe being bombed - but that's my opinion. )

---

All the TV news sucks.   Plus - I'm a bit surprised ... I see a bunch of people here hating Beck ~ he's insane admittedly - but sometimes he's entertaining.  ( Yeah, and that's it.  Entertaining - entertaining like watching a donkey kick a guy or something. )

If there's anyone deserving of hate - I'd point to the other guys ... you know, those ones who blindly loved Bush - would probably get a room with Bush and tell Laura to GTFO - it's MAN TIME - Yeah, I'm talking about O'Reilly & Hannity.   Ugh.  They're so buttsecks with the likes of Bush and the biblethumpers ... that it's sickening.   THEY suck.
Nothing.

It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't try bullshitting everyone into believing that they're neutral and just reporting the facts. They can say whatever they want, but they need to be honest about leaning so far to the right that they have a stack of bibles keeping them from falling over.

When I watch The Daily Show, Countdown with Keith Olbermann, and Real Time With Bill Maher I'm fully aware, and they admit, that it's a liberal echo chamber.

Maher and Stewart aren't echo chambers. They both have many conservative guests.

In fact: http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2009/08/why_conservative_pundits_love.html

Quote
What's more, Stewart seems to like hosting conservatives (Comedy Central did not reply to requests for comment). In recent weeks, Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich, and Bill Kristol have stopped by. Since the beginning of the Obama administration, Stewart has interviewed more conservative pundits than liberal ones.

Learning is fun.

I'm aware of that. That doesn't mean that they aren't obviously liberals who's shows favor liberals, and are watched almost entirely by liberals.

I wouldn't consider the daily show & real time ... real news.   It's an entertainment format.   When the host is a comedian - not good.

Keith Olbermann - is different, he's a journalist at least.

---

Political extremes work both ways.

Hitler was a an ultra-right.  Stalin was an ultra-left.

( Only difference, is the ultra-leftist killed more people and took less flak.  I guess he was more "kill savvy" than the right-winger - you know, don't discriminate when going around killing people - every slaughtered person is equal ... o.O )

Nothing.

They're more of a news source than Beck.
