What's the obsession with 15 year olds?

That is a huge theme.  All these young characters make up their minds before they're even teenagers.  Wish I decided what I wanted to do early on and stuck with it................. ................... ...I still haven't made up my mind............... .......

We need examples!

Anime like True Tears, Ef - aToM, Bakemonogatari and the Book of Friends are rather good for the drama genre.

On the other hand in the action genre we have the popular TTGR, Code Geass, Macross Frontier, and some others that I don't know in addition to the Gundam series. Dunno how they are good in general because I haven't watched all, (I usually drop them mid-way through) but somehow they share one common similarity; they are all mecha oriented, and have overpowered or overly idealistic ugly main characters. (mecha is soo not my stuff; nothing against people who like mecha) If you want classics, traditional mecha is not the way to go.

So avoid mecha anime as much as possible and watch drama/slice of life anime if you want a protagonist that acts their age.

It is all up to the individual, but I can't think of very many tolerable shows that feature a v. young protagonist. I don't really care for anime drama (partially since most of it involves kids) and action wise I thought Macross Frontier (I gave up after realizing that every friggin battle would be accompanied by crappy j-pop) was pure trash and most of the Gundam shows...well, I didn't even bother trying them. Code Geass started off well then went downhill. Never bothered w/ season 2.

FLCL was good. I think I may have liked one or two of high the school comedies. Blah blah blah Host Club or something like that.

Anyway, whatever the reason they choose to create shows that feature young protagonists --whether it be economics, popular manga etc.--it doesn't really change the fact that they're all pretty much unwatchable now (IMO).

Those who like it I'm sure are ecstatic at seeing all the little brats running around, but I for one would like to see massive changes to the anime industry. Hell, even if it could go back to the way it was 5 or so years ago, it would at least be something.

Carnivus:
Nothing to obsess about.Sure, most animes have a age close to that, but what's wrong?I mean, yes,Naruto is quite annoying, but other characters are quite realistic, with a more adult mind, like Lelouch.
It's not about the content as much as the quality.
@DarkJedi(Watching Blue Gender and Code Geass made me grow from "I sooo hate mecha" to "Acceptable, but if it's not a good stor, not worth the time".

Yeah, well, that's the main problem I have with Code Geass, or other anime intended for teenagers in general. When I see teenage protagonists in an anime I want to see them behave like teenagers, not like adults (like Lelouch in Code Geass) or children. (like everyone in School Days)

The thing is about Code Geass, with Lelouch that is, that he has a very high IQ. So I accept that in him. High IQ people are too fucking smart.
