IRC connection strangeness...

<< < (4/4)

Sosseres:
Tried connecting through a proxy to see if it is your isp that is the problem?

Tried using a direct IP number instead of the standard URL to see if it is a DNS error?

Perhaps just doing a tracert from your computer would tell more since you can see where it stops and if it can even resolve the IP.

Perhaps a specific port is blocked, though I doubt it since that would block most networks.

quekmeister:
How would one force an IRC client to go through a proxy?

Rizon doesn't give out its server IPs.

Sosseres:
Tracing route to irc.impact-media.me.uk [85.17.36.73] That should be one of their IPs since I did a trace route on the server that I connected to rizon with ~30 mins ago.

I am not sure how to use a proxy with irc, there is bound to be a way, but I've never needed to learn it. ^^

quekmeister:
Nope, using the IP didn't work either. Guess I'm using the webclient for now. Thanks for all your suggestions, everyone.
