It sounds like the 3 currently-planned movies will cover pretty much the same material as the TV series. So instead of a 25-episode, 625-minute manga commercial, we get a 3-movie, ~360-minute manga commercial.

Ugh. That is so horribly disappointing. I was really hoping for a reboot, series style. Not some lame batch of movies. They're gonna have to skimp on the details big time.

All I want is to know what happens after the series! And without having to read the manga! Why won't they just do it!

I don't care what anyone says, with a trailer like this: http://www.berserkfilm.com/ , I'm already convinced that it's going to be awesome and who knows it could be like ghost in the shell... they could make the films then make another 2 series and another film... who knows Miura might even finish the manga!

From what I heard and read is that its going to be multiple trilogy's on the arcs first trilogy is the golden arc second trilogy is retribution arc and so on. Plus its also going to include many characters that were not in the anime that are shown in the manga. So its more accurate to the manga as well.  And I am pretty sure I saw the Skull Knight in one of the teasers which I am excited to see since he was a major character in random popups throughout the first arc and story.  Only things I am not so excited about is the animation. Its to colorful to me the anime series was nice in keeping it dark. I am sure it wont be bad after I watch it but until then I want a less colorful look and a more darker tone haha.  Also this film manga adaption is going to take a while especially since berserk is still an ongoing series. Probably once they get to the third arc trilogy film we can see how far the manga has gone. If you think about it 3 arcs 3 films each takes roughly 5-8 years maybe they are hoping to release the whole trilogy in a year so we will see. We can only hope it not that long haha.

From the trailers I've seen so far there is a pretty big possibility that they might make the action parts of these movies look completely ridiculous with overdone CGI effects...

I'm going to be pretty pissed off if these movies aren't awesome, we've been waiting for too long for Berserk anime. And why won't they just freaking make new seasons for the rest of the manga already? I'm sure it would do well I mean Berserk is the best manga and story I've ever read.

I'm not that concerned. The CGI looks to be very well done, for once. I'm also pleased at the reported lengths of the movies. That works out to be about 14 episodes worth, much higher than I expected... so hopefully they won't cut out as much as I assumed.

Bah, I should've read this before watching Berserk again last week... so disappointing. Casca and Guts' voices don't fit very well either... She's supposed to sound cute while trying to act tough or else the magic disappears. Also, I hate that 3D animation art style, so unfitting for a dark, bloody and semi-psychological story.

What a let down, I might just have to read my first manga ever...

If all is well in the universe this movie will cover what happened in the original anime, and then they will announce a anime series to follow the movie.

I wonder if you would feel the same way if you watched the movies before the TV series. Same thing with everyone complaning about the new Hunter x Hunter voice actors.

Personally watched the first nine eps of the TV series yesterday and the more I watch, the more exited I am for the movies. Zodd looks epic and the animation when Guts draws his sword at 1:00 in the trailer Fish13 is linking to = begins to droll.

I wonder if the manga is worth reading from the beginning even if you've seen the TV series.

In a word, yes. An emphatic yes.

I'm getting the jitters waiting for this. Characters look amazing, voices sound great. Potential for all-time epic greatness.

Yes!

I tried to start reading the manga from where the anime's arc ended, but I felt confused as all heck. It's much more worth it to start from the beginning so you don't miss out on some important details.

Plus, the artwork, story, characters and action is so badass, it's worth it to see it all again anyway.

Are these movies going to be direct to video or released in the theater?  If it is released in the theater first,  it then takes 6 - 8 months(?) before it gets released to video and then subbed, right?
