It was the perfect end of an arc, but it's not like the content after had no hope of one upping it or at least continuing the quality. The only issue is probably time. Even with years of material, the content isn't quite as definitive as the anime covered arcs, and the author releases slowly, running the risk of eventually catching up with him. Still, the later stuff would certainly be worth seeing animated.

What would be the purpose of a tech demo for an traditional style anime? It looks like standard stuff. FFVII was to show off their CGI tech.

I'm sure it will be worth seeing animated, but for me, there's is NO chance it could come even close to the first... assuming it's going to be a direct continuation.

Would I watch the sequel? Yeah. But I know I'd regret it after I did.

You make it sound as if this happens like in the next chapter or something. The series is up to 33 volumes and I don't think it's ending anytime soon. The anime only covers 13. A new anime wouldn't likely have enough episodes to cover what's already been done, much less end the series.

The choice is whether to risk getting more Berserk anime that might waterdown the impression made prior, or just let it be and sabor the impression. (A Binary Choice.)

I think another anime will do well. Fans will want something while waiting for Muira to do the next manga chapter.

Well, while there are 20 more volumes after the ending of the anime, they can be fairly well compressed when animated - some chapters are just one, long fight, presented from different angles and in large panels. In an anime these wouldn't probably take much screentime, plus some stuff can be dropped to streamline the story, without losing the plot.

The problem is, the manga is still unfinished, and it doesn't exactly seem to be ending soon.

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing a looser adaption until the manga is finished (then they can do the whole thing). Take it in a different direction, keep the key characters, the setting and the brutality. A talented writer could do a lot with it. One would think there anime writers/directors in Japan capable of doing more than just adapting a manga.

Yeah, that was my issue. The end of the second arc is a natural stopping point for a series, if really open ended, where stopping during the remaining 20 volumes now isn't quite as definitive. It'd probably have to take more than one additional season to finish it, and as you've said, the series as a whole isn't likely to end anytime soon.

If you've never read the manga, you have no business chiming in on how the story would go. It is nothing like what you'd expect and generally the focus of the story after Griffith's ascension to the God Hand is nothing like what it was in the first chapter. It's very riveting, but it changes from being a war story to being a 5 man band adventure. Granted, it isn't really 5 man band... it's more like 1 manly man, 1 effiminate man, 1 irrelevant boy, 1 hot S&M inquisitor chick, 1 young witch, and 2 comic relief pixies band.

The real problem here is that one more new season isn't nearly enough to cover even just the stuff up to what was happening in the manga a year ago. They'd need a couple. More so if they decided to go back and redo parts of the band of the hawk arc that need revising because of adaptation decay.
