It'll be nice to see Caska before she became a dribbling moe retard. All because Miura got obsessed with Idolmaster, too...

then how is this meant to tell the entire story ?

"will begin with a theatrical film"

Sounds like they're going to start with a film or OVA then continue on from there. Basically, looks like they're going to reboot the franchise.

It's good news for berserk fans regardless.

Now if they would just do the same with Claymore...

Seems rather unlikely when you take Claymore's age into account. Not unless the manga ends, and it's still popular. Berserk is much more in the need of an overhaul being 10 years older.

A new animation project of Berserk, animated by Studio 4C and said to be very CG heavy.
Well, if the CGI is done well.

Confirmed - Studio 4C will handle the Animation Work. Berserk movie is set to release in January of 2012. Studio 4C also did First Squad: The Moment of Truth. If you haven't seen First Squad then I definitely recommend it.

Same here lol. I think I'll check out the first movie, and then wait. I hope they're released faster than Hellsing Ultimate though being movies whereas Hellsing is OVAs, it probably won't be the case.

I'll be well into my 30s. Hopefully my career will leave me time to keep up with Berserk. :s

I love the manga and the old animated series.

Seems rather unlikely when you take Claymore's age into account.

I just meant continuing animating it. :P Berserk was old enough were it could be 'rebooted'. Claymore doesn't need to be, but if that's what it takes to get the investors to green light it, I'm for it. I'd just be happy (probably more) with a second season. I follow the manga religiously.

TL;DR - I want more Claymore too.

Didn't Claymore steer off the manga material like Soul Eater and Fullmetal Alchemist?

Anime had an ending that didn't follow the manga. I guess they couldn't come up with a different idea how to finish without just cutting it off.

They didn't pull that off very well either.

Berserk Ōgon Jidai-Hen I: Haō no Tamago (Berserk Golden Age Arc I: Egg of the Supreme Ruler). Berserk will be divided into 3 part, with the first movie being released early next year in Theaters within Japan.

I'm not sure how to interpret it. From what you post it sounds like only 3 movies are coming out, but from this it sounds as if these movies will only adapt that specific arc.

Anyone know how much it covers in the manga?

Covering the whole manga? Damn, so they're even planning ahead for the end of it too. That's pretty amazing.

I find it amusing that the director of the new Berserk movie(s?) is the character designer for the iDOLM@STER games.

Surely that's no coincidence.

Of course, 4C also did Tweeny Witches, and that was a cheap-ass slideshow by all accounts. Though one would hope that a theatrical project would get a higher budget on a per-minute basis.

It sounds like the 3 currently-planned movies will cover pretty much the same material as the TV series. So instead of a 25-episode, 625-minute manga commercial, we get a 3-movie, ~360-minute manga commercial. Kinda sucks for everyone hoping for a sequel, but at least it helps introduce the material to a new generation of fans, some of whom might've been in kindergarten when the 1997 series came out.
