I have never downloaded Horrible subs before. I have a question though: do they do the encodes themselves? Or they simply use raws uploaded then mux a script? Or rip CRs video?
At the Otakon Fansubs & Industry panel, it was mentioned that HorribleSubs sometimes adds mistakes to CR's subs to make them look worse. Why, I don't know. Maybe to spur people to download "scene" fansubs rather than sign up for Crunchyroll's service?

I generally don't like them, though I can understand you, Tatsu, when they're ripping a show that is hard to come by. I did find myself downloading NS124 this week 'cause they were faster than Taka. But I don't archive any of their files..

I couldn't watch Skip Beat thanks to CrunchyRoll, but HorribleSubs ripped it and brought it to us (saw CrustyRolls episodes here and there when they were available).

I'm not sure if how they put the subtitles in though.. when they rip the file must already be in mkv or something...
