ADV dies ?

cool, Burn UP! :D
l wonder who will take over their stuff ?

Like Southrop says they split into 4 companies and all the most of the anime from ADV will be split between all of them.
So they aren't really going to burn up or die. Just became more companies to license away our anime =[.
Smaller firms. I'm thinking they wanna clear up their records on ADV since they did that bankrupcy and what not. Some companies usually do that.

While it's true that ADV split into 4 companies, each of those control a different part of ADV. The link I posted before reveals that only one of those companies holds the licenses.

Why do some people in this thread want to see companies fail?
If anything i want to see them improve.More compititon breeds better
products/cheaper prices.

Plus the fact that a lot of fansubs are better than those companies. Karaoke anyone? Translation notes? Honorifics? Most quality is even better. Blu-ray is not presented in most cases by "these" companies (budget or not). Most of the quality items you get here, compared to what's in Japan, is ... well, not as good. I've been purchasing stuff from overseas and I'm loving them.

The matter of the fact is Fansubs > "These" companies. I agree with you on ONE point, that those companies can actually have compitition between each other ... But really, the real compititors are Fansubs. Alright, back to work.

Honorifics in a translation is hardly an improvement.

I wish pioneer were still in the business.  They did some awesome work.

Each person has their opinions. I enjoy both and there's others that enjoy both, either, or none.

Well, sometimes, that can also be interpreted as a win, not a loss... [whistles innocently]

Atm, I would say it is a big loss! Fuckimation will then have a monopoly in distributing anime in the US and that will also have consequences on the fansub community, definitely. Is there any other big player left? Or are there only small ones left (which will then not last long, I believe)

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

no your wrong in this case nearly 100%, nothing they do causes them to compete with eachother for dvd sales, they only competition is who can get licenses to series first. And expanding on that who bet money on the series that ended up being huge 6 months before it aired(one of the things they more or less do is invest in a show they think is gonna be good and if it pans out they spend more money to get it)

The problem being that there is no competition on dvd prices etc.
Its just like the credit card companies they technically have competition but the competition isnt exactly a race, its a running stalemate where they both dont care about winning customers because its not the price of the dvd that makes the sale its the content of the dvd.

More people are gonna buy the bleach and naruto dvds then people will buy school days dvds. So does that mean the company who puts school days out on dvd needs to cut the price to try and compete with bleach ?

no, because its sub section of the anime market.

Funimation just got lucky with dragonball z being RETARDEDLY successful in america and more or less using that to keep their company alive and allow it to expand
