Regarding the majority of CPM titles that are allowed to be offered now: I was wondering which release(s) of Lodoss War are considered the ones with the highest overall quality?
Any opinions?

Dual-audio: Baka-Anime, Anime-Supreme, Anime-Eternal or a4e?

Note: I have no plans whatsoever to offer this series myself, I'm just curious.

I just grabbed them all (except the first series) off nyaa torrents. they seam good, I don't think you're going to find better versions laying around anywhere.

I don't know, the torrent is called "Record Of Lodoss War All Of It [MKV/OGM] [DVDRip] [+OSTs, extras]"

I don't know what's the deal with DVD rips and subbing. only that's it's dual audio with english subs.

I have the ones for OVA from anime supreme and for the series from a4e. Both in OGM.

It seems Zalis suggests the B-A release of both. I'm guessing they released them in H264, will check later.

Almost. OVA is in XviD, TV is h264. For the OVA, B-A's was the only one that was XviD, .mkv, and in full 640x480 resolution. All the others are either .ogm, DivX5, or 576x432. Sadly there is no h264 version of the OVA.

Ftr, the only one I have is Anime-Supreme's...it's okay, but could be better. If anyone's got the zx release, that would be worth looking into. Zx's encoding might have done a better job than B-A, despite being DivX5/.ogm.

I can only offer the zx (ogm) version of Record of Lodoss War, which I kept since 2003. I have the a4e version of Chronicles of the Heroic Knight, but I'm guessing there should be a better version around. I'm already glad I was able to offer most of the manga, so if anyone is bent on making a nice description for the series, go ahead.

zx's is bit more greenish but I think the images look sharper. The edges are smoother imo.

Oh, one more thing. Can anyone tell me which group are files in this torrent?. Looking at the filesizes v/a quality should be better than zx/ba's versions.

Quite tough to call this based on screenshots. B-A does look a bit sharper, but also a bit overcropped. I'm going to see if I can find a B-A episode somewhere to see it in motion.

I think I like BA's better. It's sharper, and the colors seem more natural to me.

B-A is somewhat more blocky...especially the opening animation is more smooth in zx's version. I remember seeing the similar thing in B-A's GTO.
