I remember installing SP1 for Vista the first time, FFS!!! It took several hours! My PC isn't slow, it's got 1GB ram so it should've been able to do it somewhat fast. I turned it on at 18:00 pm or something and it was still running at 22:00 pm. I just think it was that time when Vista was still having one of its child sicknesses...

Wiki says 512 MB RAM makes your computer "capable" of running Vista and 1GB RAM is Vista Premium Ready. Maybe you're thinking about Windows 7?Microsoft source.
