Nijuu Mensou no Musume
« on: September 09, 2009, 07:37:40 PM »
At long last, Live-Evil has finished subbing The Heiress of Twenty Faces...
Comments? Opinions? Chiko/Tome/Koito is hawt stuff? Discuss.

The 22nd and last episode wasn't really necessary, but it was a satisfying conclusion to the series, especially the ending credits. Oh, by the way, Ken and the Doctor should get a nomination for Most Badass and Hot Couple.

Grabbed it yesterday and have watched the first episode. I liked although it didn't tell much about the story. But it will take some time before I continue watching it (currently watching City Hunter^^)

Could it be that Twenty Faces (if he was named in the first episode then I have forgotten it) is a character from some novel? The creator sounds like a novel author (especially because his name can be related to Edgar Allen Poe, that's what's written in the description from aniDB)

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

Since noone else is commenting this series, and I figure you want some response at least, I'll utter a few lines even though I might not dwelve into things like if Chiko/Tome/Koito is hawt or not.

First off I'm not a huge Bones fan, even though I can recognize they have high production values in most areas. The main reason for this is their ability to tying a plot up. They usually have stunning animation, beautiful soundtrack, interesting characters, and a promising start. But the plot is almost always a bit too thrown up, with no real destination.

Some people argue that the journey is more important than the conclusion itself (the by far most common argument when I've pointed this out), and although I understand this viewpoint, most of the animes Bones make are very plot-driven, even if it ultimately is for the characters' development. They usually focus so much on the plot and give it so much attention that it cannot be ignored, and when the ending comes, many important plots (or so they seemed during most of the series) are very seldom tied up in a satisfactory manner. Which makes a person like me wonder how the plot progressed the way it did, and following this I question the characters because they reacted to the "nonsensical" plot devices and circumstances.
For instance RahXephon, Wolf's Rain, Eureka 7, Bounen no Xamdou, and Darker than Black all suffers from this to a smaller or bigger degree, but I've still liked all of them. I've particuarly liked the stunning animation and beautiful soundtrack and they have some really cool original ideas as well. I just think they could be even better in the plot deparment from beginning to end (like Stranger of the Sword, it was a movie and the plot was forced to be kept short, simple and concist, and I thought it turned out really well). If they could do that consistently I'd instantly be as a huge fan as most of today's community seem to be of Bones studio

After this general remark about the studio in itself, I think Nijuu Mensou no Musume is mildly entertaining, and the production values aren't as high as I've seen them do; felt more like a average work for them. Average animation, nice artwork, unmemorable music, decent characters, interesting premise but ultimately not truly interesting at all. I'd give it around 6/10, but I'm probably stricter with my rating than the average guy.

As I said mildly entertaining, certainly watchable, but does not posses anything extra that makes it worth recommending.

Just started watching this - after the first episode I was really surprised I didn't hear more about it. But well, if it gets much worse then that might be a reason.
And damn, reading that(which btw contains huge spoilers):

makes me so fucking glad I don't read anime blogs.

I still like it.
But damn, the way Muta

was goddamn ridiculous. It's honestly weird as hell to see scene like that outside of parody nowadays.
