Torrent Exception: IOError [Errno 2]
« on: September 15, 2009, 08:05:23 PM »
I got this error & can't download the Bleach Soundtrack Collection Torrent.  I've tried several things ... (Error message from BitTorrent listed below)

1) Forcing the torrent to restart
2) Deleting the torrent & re-downloading it
3) Moving the partial files, deleting the torrent, re-downloading & moving the move files back
4) Rebooted the computer

I'm running BitTorrent Version 5.0.7 and I've clueless on what to do now.  I can download other files fine from BakaBT & other sites.  This is the first time I've gotten an error like this one.

The filepath is freakin long. More than 256 characters long. Move the location of that file to somewhere shorter, e.g. C:\Downloads

Would that solve my error problem?

I expect it would. You should be able to set the download folder in the Bittorrent client, use a shorter pathname (i.e. choose a less deeply embedded folder).

Do you download the torrent and auto start it? If so, just try downloading and start it manually.

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

@ Kureshii ~ that is the default folder, I'll try moving that particular torrent into another file placement.

@ Newy ~ If it doesn't auto start & Force start the Torrent.

No, you misunderstood. I mean download the torrent without BitTorrent auto opening the .torrent-file. Like downloading a zip-file and then manually opening it. So download the .torrent-file and save it in your default folder and then open it manually.

I had a similar problem with torrents which had extra long filenames.

Oh, I get it now.  On this site Firefox as me if I want to open or save the file.  I usually open the file, but I will try what you suggested.

I did try re-downloading the Bleach Collection file after my last replay, but it had saved in the same place. heh heh :D I forgot to change where the save incomplete files and only clicked the Ask where to save box. It got half way through & the same error came up.

Did it right this time & I saved the previous file in the same folder. It took the info & seems to be downloading ok.  I will post and update if this worked or not.

thank you very much guys.

EDIT: My download is in the last stretch @ 80%+ or so.  it looks like moving the file location & doing the manual file start worked.
