.
examples of dA Raiding of artist works from friends of mine there who I know would be blowing their tops if they knew their works were being used without their consent - Celesse, Lasaro and Gueuzav.
What are your rules on this? If such an issue were to ever explode on this site, it could cause severe repecussions. Is it allowed (gawd I hope not), or must a member get and SHOW permission from the artist first?
C'mon. man ... that's just pushing it. Have you considered buying your friends a bottle or three of valium and telling them to lighten up a bit ..?
"
Raiding?"
Not.Look,
fans are
sharing here, sharing URLs and cool finds. Not sure what you're even doing at bakaBT itself. Doing a little "raiding" yourself, maybe ..?
Consider this: most of us don't even know the sources. I have several gigabytes of images and no clue. I couldn't track down and credit most of them, and I actually spend time trying to find the sources, specifically so I can point people toward awesome artwork.
Putting transitive digital art up on a computer desktop for a few days is called "Fair Use." Then it gets changed. Sampling bits and pieces (such as edits for avatars) is also well-established fair use. As a courtesy to the artists, whenever possible the vast majority are sending shouts-out and links back so they get proper credit and get discovered.
Think about that, and the respect behind it.
Someone who "blows their top" over stuff like that really needs to reconsider getting on the Internets.
Yeah, they can come here and shit all over a fine and fun community with their lawyers and psychotic attitude. Nothing gonna stop them from acting like that. But, really ... if that's what gives them joy, they should probably reinvest their money in psychiatric counseling instead of feeding the lawyers.
If you or your friends really find anything objectionable here, try acting like human beings and just politely asking the posts get edited out .. oh, yeah that was the advice about using
the REPORT function. That's why it was invented and implemented, exactly for head cases like this.
Had you been paying attention, you'd notice that bakaBT is very careful to honor across the community such requests, that's why the Blacklist exists for torrents (have you even read the
FAQ or started on the Wiki?). Anyone so uptight that they want to shit on someone for the fucking wallpaper they have on their fucking desktop ... send a cease & desist and they can get their artwork & name put on the blacklist.
All they have to do is act like polite, civilized humans and they'll find this community (as most) are willing to cooperate, just to avoid having to deal with their psychosis if for no other reason.
Maybe they could just consider trying to have a life that doesn't involve trying to suck all the joy out of the interwebz.
