waterdrop "emoticon" in anime = ?
« on: September 16, 2009, 10:33:31 PM »
Hi.  So what feeling exactly is represented by the waterdrop?  (In general, the pic is just an example)

At first I thought it was a bead of sweat for anxiety/nervousness, but that doesn't seem quite right.

Thanks.

Means a few things, nervousness can be one, but embarrassment is another. Usually not self embarrassment, more for embarrassment towards others. Like when your walking with a friend in public and he trips right next to you.

I always thought of it as a visual way of showing someone saying,  "Ugh..."

Gotta be careful with that one. That one has the vertical cloudy lines which is a different emotion.

It means nothing.
It's just by pure coincidence that a large nimbus cloud just 'happens' to be floating overhead whenever there is a anxious or nervous moment in an anime. Of course, everyone knows that the main protagonist's shear force of negative emotion during said moment causes a rift in the space-time-continuum, giving birth to a virtual miniature black hole. This in-turn causes all moister in the aforementioned nimbus to be released in a single, giant, gravity-driven drop toward the black hole. Of course, everyone knows that the only thing that can negate a black hole is giant drop of moisture; this being the sole reason that these aforementioned drops will only last 2 seconds max.

It's simple science.  ;D
