Incredible, I did read it, and that is why I replied like that. I re-watched the series many times and in S1 there is no hint for her motivation and to why Rika gets that all the time.
I said that myself? Yes, I do indeed believe I said that myself. Here, in the spoiler:
I realize they were done completely differently, that's what I was complaining about.
And yes, there was a pretty fucking big hint when the time of death didn't match. Her exact motivation may not have been revealed, but that she was masterminding things on a local level was pretty clear.
BUT her motivation fails the second criterion I brought up in
this post. "For my dead (adoptive) grandfather's honour" does not constitute "surprising".
And why Rika "gets it" was revealed. It doesn't matter whether you call her a reincarnation of Oyashiro-sama or a Queen Carrier, it's made clear that if she dies, things go completely to hell, it's plain as day that there is an organisation that wants things to go completely to hell, and it's strongly implied that Takano Miyo is behind it on the local level at least. Did you seriously not get all that just from watching Higu-ni?
Being told there's a behaviour-altering parasite is just adding sciencebabble, not a surprising twist, especially after parasites were already mentioned towards the end of Higu-ni.
