Higurashi no Naku Koro ni / When They Cry
Ashall:
Use spoiler tabs... No-chan isn't even past the second arc.
Edit just for abc cuz (click to show/hide)Rika... yo. She isn't even shown dead until the third arc. Come on now... Let others experience it as it goes instead of hinting at the importance of Rika Furude. If you're going to pick a fight over this; message me instead of posting all over this.
abc cuz:
I don't see what part of that were spoilers, apart from arcs interrelating, which if someone didn't expect to happen i'm not sure why they're watching the series expecting it to be good.
Havoc10K:
I can answer all your Higurashi questions, but 99.5% of them are answered in the second season, as for Rika Furude, i can answer you this question after you watch the second season, and only then, although I'm fairly sure you will figure it out on your own. If not, I will doubt your intelligence as a human being XD
abc cuz:
shot! yea if i'm still confused about something after second season i'l ask you
edit:
Ok finished second season, that might have been a little too straight forward but was still awesome! enjoyed it immensely
(click to show/hide)i was kind of hoping it wouldn't be supernatural stuff but it was still cool, i like that concept too, being trapped in a time loop and all (though it does bring back the memories of the boredom of endless eight...). I just have one question about higurashi. its not very important and nothing to do with the storyline, its about Mion's character design. WTF is that thing strapped under her arm, it looks like a gun in a holster but that can't be right, can it?
Havoc10K:
Two things to point out, your conclusion and your question.
1-Hinamizawa
(click to show/hide)It's not a time loop, it's true that events in Higurashi take time in the exactly same area of time, however every "awakening" takes place in a different Hinamizawa.
Hanyuu explains that in second season in detail, her power allows transferring herself and Rika Furude's spirit between alternate realities. They do this simply for Rika to avoid death, which seems unavoidable until Kei breaks the chain. It could be a mere coincidence or just Rika ending up in the last worlds that simply came along, I remember also a theory about this someplace that hanyuu used more power than usual which resulted in her own power to deplete much faster, which resulted them in ending up in more favorable worlds.
After Rika almost gave up, Keichi showed that fate can be altered, his determination brought a much needed change where Rika was finally able to learn why she even dies in the first place. A side effect of her own determination, however because Hanyuu was not convinced their attempt failed in the last moment. But the next world yielded results that surprised even Rika, she was able to outwit the enemy, Tokyo organization could not overlook the slaughter of an entire village for some mad research.
When all pieces fell together, there was no way Rika would lose. Even the old friend from the city came to help Rika, simply out of obligation because she saved his wives life.
2-Mion's attire.
(click to show/hide)Yes, it's a gun there, usually it's not loaded.
Reason for that is because Mion is to be the head of the local Yakuza, which is also the reason why Mion and Shion were separated (futile since they meet up and even switch places lol at random)
She wears that to learn the constant weight of the weapon, which she will be carrying her entire life, it's also teh weight of taking someone's life in a sense. Mion doesn't use that gun because she has no bullets for it.
Coincidentally, Shion's weapon of choice is a tazzer that Mion could easily slip into that holster and no one would notice :):)
Higurashi Anime should be always treated as an example of a perfectly well directed murder mystery because there are aa few other attempts at this and they were totally failed. Umineko was directly based on Higurashi but the premises were completely off. Umineko game is ok but the anime was laughable at most part.
