http://blogs4brownback.wordpress.com/2007/09/28/anime-encourages-murder/

it was a really sad/funny read. Evidently this series is based on a murder simulation! *gasp* i guess in the same regard all FPS's on xbox are shooter simulations, or GTA is a prostitute beating simulation!

my favorite line was
"It can take months for a legitimate American company to clean up and redub offensive raw anime into a form more suitable for western audiences. But anime fans want “pure” and uncut material that would otherwise never be allowed to be viewed outside of the perverted otaku subculture in Japan."

OH NOES OUR POOR AMERICAN PSYCHIES! thank you mr senator for protecting the american way of ignorance and censorship!

good lord, i actually couldn't finish it all, if someone can more power to you.

annnnyywayyy. after that i couldn't really keep looking. I was wondering if this show WAS edited for the TV release? Im sure the exiled destiny dvd one is uncut, but i jsut wanted to be clear on whether or not the AYU one is uncut as well. Hell, did they even censor the TV version? I actually found out this is avalible here in the states (first season at least i think) and plan on snagging it if its decent. Im assuming the American DVD release is uncut? I'm guessing thats what the exiled destiny rips are

Wow, I want to believe that blog article is an extremely elaborate troll. Sadly, I know it's not, thanks to the "nominated for best conservative blog" bit  ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) But as a fansubber, I have to feel flattered by its describing me as "a badass evil criminal mastermind who uploads illicit files to clandestine websites to corrupt millions of American children." It sure beats the truth, "unemployed loser with no life who spends hours fixing frame-timing errors for subtitles on magical girl anime that no more than 2000 people will download." So suffice to say, that blog entry is a load of BS that knows jack shit about the anime industry in America or anywhere else. I've never heard anything about the US DVD release being edited/censored in any way, so you can assume that the E-D rips are also uncut. Both Triad and Ayu used TV source for the first half of the series, and DVD source for the second half. I've only seen the Triad version, but I honestly didn't see any cuts that seriously ruined anything. Maybe sometimes you get black blood instead of red, or gruesome scenes that get a little shadowed out. It's been awhile, but I can't even recall any scenes that jumped out and made me think, "Omg it's censored!"  Besides, violence and gore are sometimes just as good or better when implied than when actually shown.

HAHA, been up for hours find gem like this. Funny that most of western Side of the world Blame everything but the Parents and children at fault. Oh he shot 20 high school children because he played Gta 4 or Manhunt or even better blame it on Anime because he watched, when they cry higurashi, or Ichi the Killer im going to go and brutalise some poor people, or they told me to do it, or ive got deep seeded issues so does everybody on this planet some way or another no excuse to kill innocent people. All right to Carpet Bomb innocent people in other countries that's fine, but as soon as one headcase decides to shoot up a school they all jump on the Its Anime Fault or Games Bandwagon F**king Lame. Sorry to go off topic

Havoc10K:
l'd like to ask to stay on topic.

but the edited op in s2 was only about rena holding a hatchet, it was replaced in tv version with a bus ;]

Havoc10K:
started watching it again, and have to say it, knowing the whole story by now l can see how well every piece of this show is so well and awesomely put together, unlike Umineko (so far it's more hectic than Osaka making a funny story (AD)) Higurashi is simply Brilliant, l promote it to my fav tops along with FSN, S&W/2, Kanokon, now Higurashi joins that great 3 shows and will now together with the 3 bring down divine punishment on all of us little smart asses watching every nice anime there is in existance :]

kenshin-dono:
well i tried posting this in a new thread but it got locked for some reason. The whole reason i started a new thread was because this wasn't about discussing the plot, nor was it ONLY about NI, it covers the placement and questions about edits/versions of the rest of the series, kai, rei and where umineko fits in. In order to get the best possible response i would have had to post in like 3 different existing topics!  ::) I guess i'll hope i get answers in justthis thread then

heres the post i guess. the links built in to the episodes arent working because i cant modify it to copy/paste and dont feel like manually retyping it all:

so im downloading this series right now after it being recomended and noticing the first season is out here in the states..  In another thread i asked about it briefly and got some general info.

i believe this is the proper order for the series correct?:

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
then
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai
and i guess the 3rd part is an OAV called
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei

is that right? and if it is where the hell does
Umineko no Naku Koro ni fit in? i heard it was related somehow. Is it a spinoff, or continuation, or what?  I heard this has been Horribly edited on TV broadcast. I mean they suposedly flat out put huge ugly Mosaics over the bodies o_O
i also found this here  http://bakabt.me/torrent/130698/Higurashi_no_Naku_Koro_ni_Nekogoroshi-hen_(Special)_Hauu.html but its not mentioned anywhere else. Is that something seperate from the first season?

im looking for some clarification on how they all tie together/if i have the order right. Also, if theres any extra specials or anything im missing. I heard of some DVD speciall s for Kai but dont see them on the torrent here

anyway right now im downloading the exiled destiny version for season one, called: When They Cry / Higurashi (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni). Snaggin it from a different tracker right now than bakabt but it seems to be the same as the one listed here.
oro_ni)_Exiled-Destiny.html" target="_blank">http://bakabt.me/torrent/142808/When_They_Cry_-_Higurashi_(Higurashi_no_Naku_K oro_ni)_Exiled-Destiny.html
I dont care about dual audio but these seem to be the only ones im sure are the DVD versions and hence the uncut versions
and thats my 2nd major question. Censorship. I know the first season had some censorship. How about Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai? Was that cut too? Im asking because it appears the version for Kai listed here
http://bakabt.me/torrent/141640/Higurashi_no_Naku_Koro_ni_Kai_Hauu.html
is the Hauu realease which seems is the tv release, and hence censored isn't it? the comments mention the win d version possibly being a DVD rip but i cant find an confirmation on that. Which group did the 2nd season from DVD rips? I dont want a cut version. this is probably one of my more important questions: trying to find out if theres a DVD rip/uncut version out there, Or is the 2nd season just uncut from tv airing? I know for sure the first was, though im not positive about the 2nd

finally about Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei.. its an OAV that i guess is the 3rd part to the series. I havent really read what its about because im avoiding spoilers. but is it a follow up, or a prequal kinda thing? This ones an OAv so i dont have to worry about it being cut/uncut but it doesn't seem to be FINISHED! WinD seems to have up to episode 4 and then nothing. Its listed as stalled and i see no info on it on their website. Hell its not even listed on their project page. What happened? will they ever finish it? did some other group sub the last one? Its gonna suck to get to the end and not have that 5th episode o_O

oh ya one final thing.. what the hells the title translate into? they have have
Higurashi no Naku Koro as the start with ni, kai, then rei as part 1, 2, 3, i guess. Whats the Higurashi no Naku Koro tranlate too? im confused because its isted as 'when the cicadas cry' most places but in America its called 'When they cry' which is right? and what do teh ni, kai, rei refer to, are they chracters? (i think ni is 2 or something, isn't it?) its just confusing

especially when you put Umineko no Naku Koro ni in there.. isn't Umineko sea cat or something? what the hecks that translate too, theres no alternate listing on ADB =P

hope someone can clear this up. I hear this series is a real mind screw so id like to get the right versions to watch/order (i can not stand censored stuff). Its probably gonna be confusing enough as is lol

got a cold now so wont be starting something i have to think about right now. At the moment im finishing up the thoroughly average but amusing Karin =P But id like to get them all d.loaded and ready for later
