If you are just talking about Season 1, it's better to watch it in the Air Ordering. It won't make sense, but it works out quite nicely. There is nothing wrong with watching it in chronological order, but some of my friends thought it was crap when they accidentally watched it in dvd order not knowing of the airing order.

Airing Order is the best. If you're adding season 2, I say to watch it separately, because the quality is questionable. Endless Eight pretty much eats at Season 2, it's a frustrating filler. In my opinion, the 6 other episodes are way better to watch, and watching them separately won't make it that confusing as you'll know when it is chronological. That, or it won't matter.

Enjoy Watching!

In my opinion, if you are planning to watch both seasons just watch with airing order but season 1 first. Endless Eight is frustrating indeed but stick with it :D

You can always re'watch both series with different order :D

In all honesty, Endless Eight has a good chance of killing any enthusiasm you may have had in this franchise.  I would

HIGHLY RECOMMEND

that you just watch the last episode of the Endless eight episodes or MAYBE one of the eps before it.  You may think people were exaggerating when they said it's the same episode 8 times, but it's not an exaggeration.  It's the same episode 8 times.  However absurd and unbelievable that sounds, it was actually planned, executed, and aired that way.

S1 in Airing order, then S2 in airing order.

a.f.k. = xvid, chihiro = h264.  h264>xvid, but some computers can't handle it so well.

There is no 720p/1080p version of Haruhi S2. Chihiro is the best x264 version, while a.f.k.'s being the best Xvid. You'll get a different answer probably from each person you ask about the best between the 2.

Chihiro's would have the best encode.

a.f.k. would have the translation hands down.

I recommend watching at least 3 Endless Eight episodes. The very first, for the "Oh, it's just another SOS Brigade adventure, everything's fine" aspect. 1 of the middle 6, for the "Oh crap something's wrong" factor. And then the last, for the resolution. The other 5 you can skip or watch in fast-forward. I burned through 4 of them in FF today, and I have to say it was interesting to see the different clothing, hairstyles, camera angles, and character positionings that the different episodes used. You notice those a lot more when rapidly skipping through than when watching them at normal speed. I have to say that E8 was an intriguing concept, just carried on too long. It could've been done in 4 episodes and not lost anything.

Got any old fansubs on HDD/DVD/CD? Please take a look at this thread.

How do I watch The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya?
« Reply #14 on: December 07, 2009, 08:25:36 AM »
Yes, I did use the search button, and look on the internet, but there seems to be no consensus. I haven't watched this aparantly awesome series yet, so it's about time I got round to it. But I'm not sure which order to watch them in. Should I watch them in the order they were broadcast in in 2009 (switching to 'series two' for episode 8, for example), or in the 2006 broadcast order and then series 2 afterwards? Or any other convoluted order that I haven't worked out yet? Anyway you probably get the drift, so go go go! Please and thank you :)

watch it the order it aired earlier this year.

The 2006 play order is good only if you watch those episodes. But if you combine it with s2, it isn't good.

EDIT: the Chihiro version uploaded here listed the play order in one of its comments.

No u.

Yes, I did use the search button, and look on the internet, but there seems to be no consensus.

But anyway thanks guys. I'll give it a go in the 2009 order.

And Cubensis, I'm reading Welcome to the NHK manga right now (in japanese :D I've got the entire collection here next to me now) and I'm absolutely loving it. I'll definitely watch the anime afterwards, I obviously just don't want to wreck the manga.

If you have any other suggestions, I'd definitely be happy to hear them, stuff like NHK is right what I'm after.

What I'm saying is post in the thread instead of making a new one. Also saying that you used it, but not actually posting in a thread that is already there with such topic just shows me that you didn't use it..... People say they use the search engine, but why make a new thread if you already have.
Reason to post in the thread instead of making a new one is to stop useless threads which dies out quickly.

Don't tell me "no u" when your actions contradicts what you said you did....

Anyways if any mods see this. It would be appreciated if this was merged with the existing thread that already talks about this.
