I use to use it as identification to find the last episode I watched on certain anime. Other then that I haven't found a worth while use for it.

Nice feature, but I won't use it. Why? Because all my stuff is on the NAS, and as fast as Gigabit Ethernet is, opening a folder of 50 eps and having thumbnails load automatically off the network just isn't a good idea (I also hate caching thumbnails for anything, so that idea's out of the window).

I don't mind caching thumbnails for my pictures, videos it gets very annoying. I will have to say, after awhile I got tired of it and the only folders I did the thumbnails in was the very long series that I didn't watch all in one jump.

It's a Media Foundation splitter. thumbnail generation is just an added bonus.
