No Upload with BakaBT Torrents Only
(1/1)
hard1victory:
Hello Everyone,
I recently moved to San Diego and have been forced to use COX as my ISP since they are the only provider for my apartment. Due to that I need to use a VPN (ItsHidden) in order to use torrents (COX Blockers). I'm not sure if this is whats causing my issue, but at my old apartment I didn't have this problem.
Currently I get zero upload on torrents that are downloading or that I am seeding. This is only the case with BakaBT torrents. Any suggestions on how I can fix this? I'm of course concerned about my ratio.

Seeing as you didn't have the problem previously, it must be ISP related...
There's not that much that can be done, try to enable encryption if you haven't already and see if that helps, otherwise go through help section and find posts on throttled connections, maybe you'll find something useful...

I've been recommending lately that people who have issues with uploading due to ISP shaping, or blocking give TOR a try... it's an end to end encrypted low latency anonymity network, and while it will be SLOW it should help out, as it is nearly impossible for ISPs to tell what traffic is occurring on the encrypted network...

Using TOR for torrenting is considered to be rude, since you're taking away bandwidth from people who are using it to, y'know, access news outside of China and stuff.

This is true, especially when you are sending Data across the TOR network, but you can set up most clients to only resolve the hostnames using TOR, leaving the actual Peer to Peer transferring to the main network, depending on the type of blocking the ISP is utilizing, you may not need to use TOR for full Data transfer.
OH, and note that TOR has it's own hidden service torrent tracker now... so... that taboo is slowly dissolving as the network gets more exposure to higher and higher bandwidth relay nodes.
Plus... If run as an exit node, you can offset the detriment by providing your bandwidth to those who need it... an ethical exchange of data transfer bandwidth... however, you might want to look into getting your gonads encased in steel, as TOR is also used as a cover for illegal activities... The alternative way to help is to run as a Relay node... it greatly increases the network's overhead without the risk of a Police action.
