IF you are a HT nut like me.  The New Slim Line is the only way to go.  Plus it run a lot cooler and it has nearly NO fan noise.  Which is BOSS!!

ARGH why doesn't mine have these features, is the DTS decoder and audio pass able to be firmware updated or are they hardware capabilities.

DTS decoder? I thought even DVD players have those. All PS3 should have that, to be able to play blu-Rei and DVDs.

Yes, a standard DVD player does Standard DTS and Dolby Digital, but it is not able to do HD Audio or bitstream.  The old PS3 had to decdode  DTS Master Audio and and Dolby Digital True HD instead of passing it though to the reciever directly.  The New Slim Line is able to do true pass through with bitstreaming as well as use Linear PCM cababilities.  And for those who don't know with DTS Maser Audio and Dolby Digital True HD you can recieve up to double the amount of audio through a Medium-High (6.6 Gb/s) to High (10+ Gb/s) HDMI cable.

With the new bitstreaming ablities of the PS3 Slim to pass audio directly to the reciever where there is 0 loss of data from the disk to the receiver.  This creates added clarity especailly for anybody who is an audiophile like myself, or running a cable for more than 12 feet(assuming it is a high quality cable, not the 4 foot Piece of Crap you picked up a Wal-mart for 30 bucks).  Even with a digital signal you can recieve loss, this shows up as artifacts or blocking on the Picture or/and as echoes, pops, rings and static in the audio.  Most noticable in explosions and quiet/dramtic sences.  Or, if you are in my boat, loss of musical instruments from the auido encode.  Granted if you aren't using a full surround system or quality speakers, you are going to get the audio flaws anyway through defeciencies in the equipment.

And yes, you can get concerts and Music in HD Audio codecs, so don't say you cannot :)

.... Your making me want to get a PS3 slim for myself. I wanna wait till my brother purchases one, otherwise he'll take mine.

LoL.... I'm sorry to hear that, It is great to live a lone.  I'm actually thinking about purchasing one myself.  Replace my blu-ray player(aka give the old one to the Parents for their bedroom TV)

Even I toppled under the pressure and ordered one. Too good of a deal to pass up on now, really, provided you have the funds readily available.
