It will stream just about any file inluding MKV, ISO and so on with the subtitles of your choice(You can choose them in the ps3).

So your PS3 has to be connected to the Internet? And you can just stream it from your computer, to the internet, to the PS3? Is that how it works? What's the benefit anyways? I'm just using a quick wire from my computer to HDTV and it's working.

No it just streams it through your LAN, kind of like if you have 2 computers at home and you send a file to the other through your network.
If you already have your computer connected to your tv that works just as well though.

I USED to like PS3MS, but then it got boring and the best is still like what tatsujin mentioned, HOOK IT ALL UP!!

Well I guess it depends on the situation as well. If say you want to watch a movie in the living room with your friends or family and have your ps3 hooked up there, it's a bit easier to stream it to the ps3 then move your computer.

Spanks:
Hooking my computer to my 50' tv would require moving my computer back and forth between spots. (and my PC seems to be skipping audio for some reason, mite need to reinstall the codecs)

I use PS3 media server atm but that requires me having a Ethernet cable laying across the rooms, and PS3 drenches the entire bandwidth and sometimes the cable cant handle the data stream when streaming 1080p.

Been trying to make AVCHD and ISOs, Ill have a look at the doom9 tuts(haven't looked at a tut yet)

I wouldn't need to do any of this if my my media player could handle the mpeg4 video of the 1080p anime I have. For some reason it distorts the video.
