Connectivity issues
« on: September 26, 2009, 01:41:53 PM »
Yes I've read the Wiki. The thing is not so much that I cant connect but SOME torrents give me a Timeout/host name not found. I say some because for instance I'm seeding the shakugan no shana OST and Shakugan no Shana S2, however I cant make Legend of Basara and the Shakugan no Shana S1 Xvid torrents connect.

All of my torrents have the same tracker and passkey and I even re-downloaded the faulty torrents, it didn't fix it however. Any ideas what it might be?

does this problem persist over a long period of time - like 10+ hours?
it might be that the tracker was just temporary down / overloaded.

do you know what a command prompt is?

if yes, you might run the following command using a command prompt, it is not harmful, just tries to reach the bakabt tracker in intervals.

ping tracker.bakabt.com -w 5000 -t >\bakabt_tracker_stats.txt

It wont show any flashy messages, run it for at least an hour or until you encounter the problem. Close the command prompt window and then compress and share the file c:\bakabt_tracker_stats.txt with the members here.

Iam on a super stable fiber cable connection.
I were downloading(not from BBT) when running this.
Ive pruned the 3600 pings, seems a waste of space.

"ping tracker.bakabt.com -w 5000 -n 3600>BBT_Ping_log.txt"

Started:
26.09.2009

Pinging tracker.bakabt.com [95.211.6.148] with 32 bytes of data:

........
........
........

Ping statistics for 95.211.6.148:

    Packets: Sent = 3600, Received = 3600, Lost = 0 (0% loss),

Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

    Minimum = 29ms, Maximum = 42ms, Average = 30ms

Maybe its useful to compare to, i dunno.
Prolly more useful to run a longer test.

^ very very useful, thanks. Actually you have demolished an important problem. Since mayhemrules (i am guessing) is executing the same command from his local computer, and thanks to you we now know that bakabt trackers don't have a problem during the overlapping times, we will be able to evaluate his result properly.

If we didn't have your results to compare, we would not be able to know whether mayhemrules had the problem locally or the tracker globally.

 :D

[edit] we need a time offset of course to compare :) , I am guessing the time you mentioned is your local time.

I think I fixed it althought I dont know exactly why this works....

I have currently 4 active torrents. So I forgot why but I thought that maybe it is because I cant support that many connections to the tracker. The thing is I stopped the two torrents that were working fine. Then restarted the two torrents that weren't working. That somehow fixed the issue, whatever it was...

Thanks for all the help :D
