R4
« on: September 27, 2009, 04:05:15 AM »
I was too lazy to go to a gaming forum and look for the answer <_<

I just bought a DS Lite a few days ago (late, I know) and I was wondering if there were any suggestions as to which site I should go to buy the R4 adapter and what not. A friend suggested Deal Extreme because of its cheap price with no shipping, but apparently it would take around 20 days to ship. If Deal Extreme is the way to go for most people, then is there a package deal of which R4 I should get?

R4? That's so last year. Isn't the new one called the N5? Same concept, but better physical build.

I usually end up buying the game if I really liked it, but I don't want to regret spending money on a game I don't want to play.

H37, F 87.24, I dunno. I was wondering if anyone had any suggested sites for the adapter and R4 is the only one I'm familiar with.

The site you mentioned is one of the better ones. Slow... but one of the better ones.

I would consider the N5 over the R4. Build is better. R4 have many with a screwy internal spring. Makes for a fun time to remove the micro SD.

I have a CycloDS and recommend it if you do not mind the price ($45-$50).

My girlfriend has an iTouch DS, a variant of the R4, I believe. The only good feature on it is that the Mini SD card is spring loaded. The card offers no features to speak of other than play games. After purchasing an EZ Flash 3 in 1, I found that the iTouch does not support most accessories. In short, avoid it if you want to do anything other than play games that come in pre-patched and trimmed ROMs.

As for where to buy, I have never had issues with Modchip Central or Real Hot Stuff.

Ditto the cyclo ds here. Had no problems with it. Couldn't tell you where I picked it up from though as my dad gave it to me.

Ditto for the CycloDS. I've had mine for close to 2 years now, still going strong. They've updated a few times in the past few weeks too, mostly beta firmware and whatnot.
DX sells them in fact.

Or, if you're on a budget, the Acekard 2/2i is the best. (2i is for the DSi, still works on the original DS/DS Lite)

Might want to take a good read through here:

And yeah...buy your games...Or at least buy the ones you like.
