5 Centimeters Per Second

erious:
Shit movie.
Oh sure it was really pretty and all, also directed nicely.
But it tried to be oh so serious and realistic but it only came out pointless. And you call that an ending? Pfffff. I actually watched part 1 few months before I got around to watching the rest, and now I wish I stopped at it.
All in all, one of the biggest disappointments I had with anime so far.

Havoc10K:
go watch KURO or Fireflies Tomb, tell me what you think of those and depending on your answers l might change my mind about you.

l'm not gonna say anything about this movie untill l see it, but l already like tha artwork.

Tatsujin:
Any positive comments on this movie? I'm just reading negative comments ... it feels like people don't understand the meaning of the movie which is fine. Some feelings and words can't be expressed the way you want it. Life is not a miracle to give and show you and make you happy. Life is not a happy world that you desire. That's what 5 cm is all about.

darkjedi:
I believe I found 5 cm boring because this movie tried to make something exceedingly common and natural in the real world overtly dramatic.

His reasoning for creating a movie like that:

Makoto Shinkai had expressed that, unlike his past works, there would be no fantasy or science fiction elements in this film. Instead, the feature film would attempt to present the real world from a different perspective. Makoto's film gives a realistic view of the struggles many face against: time, space, people, and love. The title 5 Centimeters Per Second comes from the speed at which cherry blossoms petals fall, petals being a metaphorical representation of humans, reminiscent of the slowness of life and how people often start together but slowly drift into their separate ways.

From Wikipedia. Source. If someone can translate that.

My reasoning for liking it is because it relates to me and my past relationships, at the very least 2 to 3 of them. You just drift away because it just didn't work out. It can also be fate (train part when passes at the very end before they looked at each other).
