Seitokai no Ichizon
« on: October 04, 2009, 11:36:41 AM »
I tried of writing a description but couldn't come with anything satisfying. "Ken Sugisaki is the only male representative in an otherwise all bishōjo student council and wants them all to be part of his harem" was the best that I could do. It's a funny comedy, with a perverted male character and a deluge of anime jokes (at least a the beginning).

I liked it, no matter what koda thinks.

You know, I was just writing a topic about it, and only didn't post it because ANN was down ;D Hivemind.
Well it's not a good anime - but if you like otaku pandering jokes it's amusing enough(my favorite was "Light music club, castanets pass"). It's ugly(and not only thanks to the 73mb encode), but it doesn't really matter in this one.
I wouldn't agree with Koda as well, but that's only because I'm the kind of guy this anime caters to.

ANN was up for me but the description was so lackluster that... well.. just for yourself:
"The series, which is also called Hekiyō Gakuen Seito-kaigi Jiroku (The Records of the Hekiyō Academy Student Council’s Activities), revolves around a private high school whose student council is chosen entirely by popularity vote. Because of this, Ken Sugisaki is the only male representative, in the otherwise all bishōjo student council, that may enter the “sacred sanctuary” of the council’s meeting room. At the behest of Council President Kurimu Sakurano (pictured at right), Sugisaki records the minutes of the council meetings, which devolve into daily conversations about the students’ lives and interests."

As for the quality of the show, does it really matter?

It's clear that it does not try to be "OMG, epic story line" but it's fun and funny, and thus it's successful at what it tries to do.

Haven't seen the episode yet. But judging from your comments it sounds as though the anime is streamed.

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

That was fun, I guess, I'm not sure what to make of it. The only thing I was sure of throughout was that if anyone ever tried to make me wear the trousers at that school, I'd shoot myself.

Going to be waiting for Nuke to sub this, so I don't have to get jerked around by gg.
Troll encoding without also releasing a real one? I think I'll pass.

So true.... ;D

On one side I enjoyed this but on the other side, hmm, I don't know. To be watched when in a certain mood...

I watched a remux btw, so the video quality was ok, nice to see them announcing the Olympic city of 2016 in the beginning...  ;)

gg's Troll effort aside, this was a good episode and makes it look like a promising show. I like shows with references left and right and that doesn't take itself overly seriously. A seemingly light-hearted comedy, just my cup of tea.

You know, what the heck, if I could watch other shows which were trolled by gg, I don't see why not this one. I don't really care about quality for a series like this, and the possibility of 13 eps under a gig? Priceless.

I saw the filesize and was kind of annoyed - until I saw the show.
It really doesn't need better quality - it's so ugly on it's own that anything more would be wasted ;D

gg dropped it because Eclipse picked it up. We might have a season above 1 gig now.

Eclipse won't do WA 2. Yes, that means that we're stuck with gg. Hopefully there'll be an alternative available once I get down to marathoning this...

Edit: sources are nice, I suppose. [01:47] <Mentar> unfortunately not :( ... our translator who did Index and White Album is moving in RL and has to sit out.

I suppose that might also be the reason they're not doing Railgun? I leeched SS-Eclipse's I'll probably get to watching it tomorrow.

Anyone else liked gg's choice of words better than eclipse's?

i guess their troll-ish translation suits really well parody types

The first episode was better than I thought it was going to be.  There was some poor execution on some of the parodies but on the other hand, there was very good as well.  The main protagonist being a somewhat unique sort of guy also adds a lot to the show.
I'll probably give it a few episodes to decide what to do with it or not.  This one really could go either way.
