Double hell yeah! Though I stopped playing since the Mirrodin expansion came out. Couldn't keep up with the times, I suppose. :<

No one's ever really surprised me by being into anime, but there are a few people I know who I thought were more open minded, or loved some Western animation, who hate it for some reason or other.

That's when I started. XD

Ah, you missed so much. I still have a couple of cards left from the 4th Edition way back in '97. (Visions, I believe.) Somehow I found the game getting overly complex after Mirrodin. Not to mention the artwork and flavour text didn't seem as innovative.

I quit shortly after Mirrodin as well, but I'm starting up again.

Agreed on the artwork/flavour text...  Plus I don't care for the 'new' card layout

We had a lot of old timers at our shop so I got a taste of what the old Magic was like. We also had plenty of Onslaught/Invasion/Odyssey packs (and the smaller sets that goes with them) to do drafts of those.

Complex after Mirrodin? Did you play Odyssey?! Now that was complex!

Those two sets are, personally, my two favorite sets/metagames of all times though I do have a thing for Ravnica. Funnily enough, one is the most sold of all times (Mirrodin) and the other one the worse sellers of all times (Odyssey).

As for the flavor, you should check Magic 2010.

They realized that they have been sacrificing the flavor too much and have tried to put more flavor in that set.
