People who surprised you when they said they were into anime

Well, they failed to understand Yu-Gi-Oh! What makes pulling a Secret Rare awesome was that 1) it was foil is a special way and 2) you could get a lot of cards for it because it was probably strong. If the card sucked, you swore as much as if you pulled a lace or a junk rare. In MtG, they had that as well. You can get a lot for good rare cards.

I read their explanation but it just does not make sense to me.

Most of the games he listed still exist but, like D&D, are totally different games than their first version.

Quiet girl in class, top grade achiever, glasses, timid looking.
*Back then anime was still some sort of a taboo, and hentai is just out of the question.*
One day, she walks up to me.
Girl(with soft voice): You know, I heard from your close buddies that you're into this.
This is my chance to tease her.
Me: What did you say?
Girl(starts blushing, nervous, now with more soft spoken): I said, are you into anime?
Me(broad smile, and scheming look): Why yes, but I'm surprised that a girl like you is also into this.
*Back then I had a mustache and looked kinda scary to younger students*
Girl(blushing furiously and instantly answers): I never said I'm into this... you know. Its just that I'm interested and your buddies said that you're able to show me how this goes about.
Now I'm completely convinced but just before I get serious...
Me: Oh... so you're into "that" sort of anime.
Girl: Eh?! *Now blushing again* What do you mean by "that"? I never said that.
Me: Well, since me and my buds usually talk about "that" sort of stuff so I'm guessing you're into it as well.
Girl: You got me all wrong.....
Me: I know, I know. I'm just teasing you.
Girl: HMMMM!!! *really soft voice* Actually, I'm interested in that as well.
Don't think i didn't hear that.
Me: What?
Girl: Nothing.
I made a new friend, life goes on.
I f*cked her and we're both happy.
Graduated, we parted ways.
End of story.

Wished I went further.

Once upon a win. That's nice that you seperated cleanly, I don't have your luck ;). If your pals were smarter they could have been in your shoes :P.
I live in a region where there's a pretty good amount of Asians running around so anime never really was taboo. Nevertheless, there is the occasional person who thinks anime is the same as US cartoons like Spongbob and etc.
