Yes, but it was far more complex than Mirrodin.

Here is a typical Odyssey conversation:
Player A: How many cards do you have in your graveyard?
Player B: Four.
Player A: How many cards in your hand?
Player B: Two.
Player A: Your Crashing Centaur is how big?
Player B: 3/4.
Player A: At threshold?
Player B: 5/6 and can't be targeted. Perhaps one day they'll make a name for that ability.
Player A: And you can discard cards to give it trample?
Player B: Yes.
Player A: What does it cost to activate?
Player B: One green mana.
Player A: And how much green mana do you have available?
Player B: Two.
Player A: And the squirrel's a 1/1.
Player B: Yes.
Player A: And it turns into an 8/8?
Player B: Yes.
Player A: Do you have any creatures that you can sacrifice?
Player B: I have a Druid Lyrist.
Player A: It costs one green to activate?
Player B: Yes.
Player A: Do you have an enchantment in play?
Player B: No, but you do. Come on, do you want to attack?
Player A: I don't know yet.

I loved that set (but it drove most people insane).
Straight from Maro's Article lol nice :P

Overall the game has gotten better since mirrodin even if I don't agree with every choice that wizards makes (I.E. Mythics), and now that players actually have to work to make 5 color decks (vivid into reflecting pool, woo!!!) the game can hopefully become interesting again.

On Topic:  I used to work with this big black dude a while ago.  We were just sitting down on break talking about various things and he suddenly mentions a show he saw on T.V. called Eureka 7.  I was extremely surprised when he mentioned it.  After that we talked about anime everytime we worked together :)

Perhaps complex isn't really the word for Mirrodin... More like overly embellished? With the altered layout etc. etc. I just didn't take to it.
I also liked the old look more than the new look. The card design got better, overall, though but sometimes they streamlined it too much that the cards lost their charm. Don't get me wrong, they are slick design but lack the favor. The cards in the last set are particularly bad at that. Each component feel tacked on rather than part of an organic whole.

I figured I would just steal his rather than have to make my own.

(I.E. Mythics)

I still don't get why they did it.

I never made the leap from second edition to third on MtG... started playing Pen and Paper RPG's instead... now those games aren't even in production v.v

To help steal some kids from yugioh, the whole "ooh look mommy, I just opened a secre... I mean mythic rare!".  Same reason why they invited the people who made it into the Yugioh nationals into the (invite only) american MTG nationals: Wizards wants to appeal to the Yugioh demographic.

I am guessing you are talking about something a bit more obscure than D&D

not too much more obscure...

Vampire the Masquerade (Now Vampire the Requiem)
Werewolf: The Apocalypse
Cyberpunk 2020
Shadowrun
Kult
Human Occupied Landfill

I think most of the mainstream ones have gotten updates since I stopped playing but... when I look at the new sourcebooks it's like they are whole new games...

Well, they failed to understand Yu-Gi-Oh! What makes pulling a Secret Rare awesome was that 1) it was foil is a special way and 2) you could get a lot of cards for it because it was probably strong. If the card sucked, you swore as much as if you pulled a lace or a junk rare. In MtG, they had that as well. You can get a lot for good rare cards.

I read their explanation but it just does not make sense to me.

Most of the games he listed still exist but, like D&D, are totally different games than their first version.

Once upon a win. That's nice that you seperated cleanly, I don't have your luck ;). If your pals were smarter they could have been in your shoes :P.
I live in a region where there's a pretty good amount of Asians running around so anime never really was taboo. Nevertheless, there is the occasional person who thinks anime is the same as US cartoons like Spongbob and etc.

I work for one of the biggest printer manufacturers in the planet, and I was surprised to find out that one of our trainers watch anime. We're talking about a tall, bald, black guy, the kind you'd see throwing three-point shots at the NBA. Watching anime.

I was like, "whoa. cool."  8)

I own the one and only Brigadoon Marin to Melan website in the entire universe. Seriously.

About the girl, I don't care if she is real or not. I liked the story either way.

It is my belief that in a batch of 100 girls there are always 1 or 2 girls like that in every school.

Whether or not they'll consent to bending over for your pleasure will depend on your diplomatic expertise.

And probably your looks, personality and hygiene as well. :P

She didn't just bend over you know. It took me quite a while.

Okay, this is starting to sound like I wanted to do her since the very beginning, it wasn't like that at all, these sort of things just happens in life.

Don't say that! Now darkjedi will realize why he never had a chance with the girls!

Was it a one-of thing or you actually dated her?

What, because he thinks that he can use diplomacy to get them? Can't say I can look back at guys I've slept with and go "Yes, it was definitely his diplomacy!"
