To be honest, I don't think I would worry about calling 911 and explaining the situation... ...

I don't think most people would... hell even someone that doesn't drive wouldn't of, I would of either jammed it in neutral or tried to catch the pedal with my shoe, and if it looked like I had enough time had the passenger hold the steering wheel steady while I did a dive to un-jam the fucker or had them do it... So many better ways then to call 911 with half your head on.

I blame it on automatic transmissions. Ban them all so I never have to drive such a worthless piece of shit ever again. The advantage? Let's say your accelerator got stuck and your brake lines were blown, put it into neutral and let the rev limiter kill the engine then shift back into gear to use the clutch as a brake. You'd stop the car before you'd be able to even make the 911 call.
