i dotn realy understand, i watched the anime, and i foudn it kind of boring.

there was only one episode that i really like, the one that the german girl and the boy start working together. The battle was very good.
so onyl one episode.

Can you explain me why is "so good"?

It's not the best, it's one of the best. There is no "best" anime.

...and almost no one claims NGE is the best anyway. Especially here on bakaBT. Sure it's good, in many aspects, but the best? Nah.
And while there are many things that can be said against NGE, "boring" isn't one that I hear often, or would use myself.

May be at that time this show aired. You can called it unique and very different from the others in story. At least at that time this show has many psychology themes in it. More than that it has the legendary ending. The Gainax ending that slapped faces of many fans.

It may not best but I sure it can called unique.

I'd have to agree. It isn't the "Best" per say, but it is a good watch. I wouldn't call it boring what so ever. If you thinking it that way, you probably missed something along the way.

Personally it isn't one of my favorates, not even top 25 for me, but I think it is sorta like akira. Everyone has to atleast watch it once to understand how anime changes over time.

that title is considered mature content, this means you need some maturity to apreciate the work put into this show.

I wouldn't say it was the best... but I just find it one of those animes that I like the art style and the way I can find something new out each time. I think its more one of those you have to watch. I don't particularly like much Ghibli stuff, but its raved about by a lot of people. To each their own.

And I actually found the English dub to be okay. I watched it in English after I saw the Japanese just to compare. Asuka sounds like shes from Texas which is rather annoying however.

Well, is one of my favourites, but not the best.

I can try to explain why i think it's "so good":

- the psychological themes used are great (kinda disturbing for some people, but great).

- the religion references are vast and give the series a different "flavor".

- the action is short, but great.

Some people i know don't like it, not because it's "boring", but because is very complex, "weird" and hard to follow. They are right, but i think of that as a good thing, not bad.

I watched the series 4 times, when i was 9, 12, 18 and 21 years old. I only got the meaning of it ("my" meaning at least) the last time i saw it (maybe because it was the only time i didn't see it with portuguese dubs or subs ^_^).

i watched it with subs, many people in my univercity sais that is the ebst ever however they cant give me a reason they just tell me that "it is"

i did put attention on the episodes but i never got hooked

if you don't get something you wont get anything out of NGE, l suggest you skip asking and forget. there really is no reason why this show is great, it simply is, but if you don't see it it's simply your basic fault, just drop it and move on.

Not THE best, but I'd say one of them. It's a psychological, mature, and deep experience. I haven't seen it in a while and I don't even remember the ending

It's just out of the box and extreme which makes it controversial which makes it popular. Love it, hate it, or indifferent, just about every anime fan has seen it. It's different and you need to watch it without any expectations or pre-judgments.

I wouldn't even go so far as to call it one of the best. It's good, sure, but the fuck-me-sideways-and-call-me-uncle ending makes it fall short of "one of the best" IMO.

When I first watched NGE shortly after it came out, I loved it and did think it was the best. But for me, it hasn't withstood the test of time. I appreciate what it did for anime as a whole, but it's really sub-par by today's standards. I think several of its clones have surpassed it... along with a countless number of other series.
