Time for me to be closed-minded as well.

As far as the TV series goes, I know Gainax was low on budget when they made the show so that's why the animation is good (for it's time) and that's why the actions scenes aren't as great (as EoE or the Rebuild series). As far as comparing Rebuild to the TV show, Rebuild trumps the original. Better artwork, better character developments, WAY BETTER english dub (it even trumps the japanese dub) and better mecha fighting scenes. It is just as good as EoE and if Eva 3.3 is pulled off just right, it could surpass EoE greatness.

No, the animation is not just "good for it's time" - it is a sakuga list series, and it shows.

And I don't get this "for it's time" crap - Akira has the best animation in any anime but it's from 1988. Good animation stays good, forever.

I find the movies (you call them Rebuild of Evangelion?) much better than the TV series or End of Evangelion. Not because of the animation, but also because of the settings and constructive story build. The characters are the same which is a big plus.

Evangelion came out in the early 90's. Comparing it to the shows of today or hell, even it's own rewrite is unfair. 20 years ago was a different time, style and culture. It's so popular now because when it came out, there was absolutely nothing like it before. Different writers kinda makes the comparison unfair. Now they're just trying to capitalize on an established name.

Well, since this is the Evangelion thread, I'll go ahead and write a very short of Evangelion: Death and Rebirth -- Watch the show instead. Do not use this movie as a cheat-through to get through the series. It will leave you confused as hell. And even dragged out, the last two episodes of the show, no matter how you look at it, was a bad ending.

For some Evangelion is like orgasm. For some, they'd rather fuck a can full of nails than listen to people rave on and on in pointless circles about how amazing they felt it was.

I thought EVA was ok. It opened my eyes for sure as to what anime could be (prior exposure back when I watched it was Ghibli, Mazinger, Ranma and Naruto) but it's for sure not one of my all time favorites.
This is your home now. So take advantage of everything here, except me.

And Green Green is a good show, but we both know we're lying.

to each their own, you can't satisfy everyone, else we would have to see a show that is ultimately great, never gonna happen.

Haters gonna hate :)

Get the remastered DVDs...the one that has DVD9 discs and use a good upscaling player and you will see.

Watching 2.22 from UTW since it has DTS capabilities. Love the animation! Just, love it! Story is much better than the TV series.

You know you can buy it now, right?
Yes. I'm not purchasing it. I'm not an Evangelion fan. Actually, I am an Evangelion fan but I don't want to purchase it. So, back ontopic:

I dunno if I'm going to buy retail optical discs again, every optical disc is getting obsolete.
show your love on Eva(for life), I bought these...

Just re-watched Evangelion 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone and for the first time watched Evangelion 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance and was completely fucking blown away at not only how much it turned the story of the original series on it's head(not a bad thing), but how completely fucking EPIC 2.22 was. It was definitely worth the year wait, i'm just pissed it ended on such a cliff-hanger. With how much better 2.22 was over 1.11 I am extremely looking forward to see how 3.33 and 4.44 advances and wraps up the plot. Here's hoping I don't have to wait another year or more for 3.33.

Edit:Sorry for the vulgarities, just expressing my extreme satisfaction.

both 3.33 and 4.44 are to be aired or released together, if my memory serves anything good, should be around next year or something.

That's what I heard. Then again, i'd be better to just release the third movie this year and continue the 2-years-a-movie rule.
