The fuck? What's the point of even watching it? Might as well read a summary.

Evangelion TV is one of the most brilliantly directed and paced TV animes of all time. You're destroying that by watching it like that.

VLC users...I'll never understand them.

I can read really fast too, that doesn't mean I watch anime at high speeds, sometimes you miss short scenes, and with NGE, you probably missed half of them by now.

I'm not saying Shinji is better if you watch it at 1.0, that fact doesn't change, but there are things that are interesting that take really fast, and you missed them, very likely.

I'm not sure I should even call you an anime fan, if you watched anime at 1.5+ speed, you missed out a lot.
If something bores you, you should consider dropping it.

Like I said, what is the point of even watching it like that? Reading fast has nothing to do with it. The length of shots, cuts, scenes, stills, etc.. Those are all important to Evangelion, and make up the excellent direction this series has. If Hideaki Anno was dead he'd be rolling in his grave for sure.

Jesus, I didn't even know people actually did this. Anime fandom never fails to disappoint me.

What everyone else has said. I don't see the point in skipping scenes by speeding them up if you're getting bored with it. Like Havok said, you might as well have skipped the series itself. Hell, I know most people here don't pay for anime anyway so you might as well enjoy the anime instead of speeding through it...

But that's why I watch dubbed. No reading required .

But yeah, i don't really understand why would anyone watch anything like that.
If after several episodes the anime is boring me, I drop it, and finish when I have absolutely nothing else to do. For the sake of completion.

When it comes to eva,  you can't watch it fast.  especially some scenes, you have to slow it down and look at it frame by frame to get the most out of it.
