Where do I start with this Eva series thing, I never really figured it out but I want to watch it.
o___o There's nothing so complicated to it.

Watch episodes 1-20 from the original NGE anime.
Then watch Director's Cut versions of 21-24 (there's no need to watch these from the original version).
Then go back to the original anime for 25 and 26.
Next, watch End of Evangelion.
This concludes the original series. After that, you can watch the rebuild movies in order.

but there's this whole decimal thing, like you are not alone, all that stuff.

So I assume I am not the only one who likes the rebuild movie better right?
Sometimes a failure is just another path to success. You just have to have the will to keep going.

I prefer the original series at the moment. Won't give full judgement until the whole set of films are out.

They're the Rebuild Movies. It really is hardly that complex.

Lol ;D
See, there are 4 rebuild movies, of which the 1st 2 have released so far:
Evangelion 1.0 you are (not) alone
2.0 you can (not) advance
3.0 Q quickening
Final
Those are the theatrical release names. But the blu-ray releases had their names changed (for no sensible reason) to 1.11 and 2.22. They're essentially the same movie as 1.0 and 2.0 respectively, but they changed the "version number" on the blu-ray.

I don't think there's enough difference to merit watching them both one after the other. Perhaps if you're rewatching at a later date.

Quite frankly I don't remember the differences at all, I just think watching both versions is good for reference if you want an objective point of view at the retail and directors cut versions. I think there was only small change to them, and you can guess: what the fuck why did they didn't air the directors version in the first place?

Because the changes were made AFTER it aired?

I too enjoyed the Rebuild movies more so than the actual series, and definitely more than EoE (omglolwut look at the color of her eyes! No wait, that just cause I'm watching a fourth generation vhs fansub). It seems they toned down the angst in the Rebuild, which works for me.

It is a pretty decent show until the last few episodes fucked up any potential it had.
Personally i think Gunbuster is a much better anime.
The people who think it is the "best anime ever" are most likely just trying to look smart.
