I love how these people recommend you get two computers instead of working off one machine.
+17 for Tatsujin's wicked nerdrage

Well, if he's doing some heavy encoding (now that's he's taken up fansubing) that's not really a bad idea. Encoding takes a lot of processing power and if you want to run anything else that's real demanding, good luck with that.

Agreed on the processing power, not on the nerdrage.
I just think that the 3 monitor justifications are very valid.

A large GUI display range is epic sick for most of the animations and visual programming I deal with.

I certainly wouldn't complain about the extra monitor.

The two monitor set-up isn't bad.  But I think i'll stick with the single set-up for now.  If it isn't broke, don't fix it right?  Besides i'm a sound guy not a video guy :)

Thinks - Do i get a new apple, or buy go back to a PC for S&G ?

And you got all defensive because? You couldn't have taken it as an IMO?
With the way you sounded, fuck no.

Well fine then nerdgasma. I shall make fun of your set up.

Nyah~!

In all honesty though, 3x 22" monitors is a LOT of head turning. That's like, what? 5 feet 6 inches of monitors? Or did I fail maths?

That's about right, though I'd add on 2-3 inches for the space in between the actual screen space (you know... that plastic margin thingy)

22'' each diagonally, unless you took that into consideration already. Still my neck would get sore after a good day of computing on that setup. ):

Hmm... yeah, I sort of screwed up the calculation, but that's still a good 4-5 feet.

I kinda want the 2500x1600 (or whatever the resolution is), but the prices are insane on those things. I only want one of them and then one on each side.

Would 2x monitors be a little awkward? Considering there'll be a HUGE bezel in the middle. Or have one monitor off to the side, which would mean a lot of turning to one side just to look at it.

A little late but, those 'corner desks' actually have a name. Can't believe nobody's mentioned it yet.  :P

I just offset them if they vary in size.

I.E. Have one a few inches to the right or left, almost so it seems like a different workstation. Its not the sexiest. But it beats one monitor.

Well, back on the desks. I've already PM'd Jarudin so hope he PM's me back or comes in here or something. Is there a similar desk to his? I've been surfing online and checking couple.

It looks to me as something that could be available at IKEA or a similar chain.

My desk is an IKEA "galant" desk. It's basically a custom format of the 120x200 (I think) corner piece with a 80x60 and 60x80 extension. This results in a nice big surface :) only needs three legs too, so it's great, and it's not very expensive.

Those pictures are over 3 years old now I think.
I'm still running mostly the same setup with the big exception of my 40'-inch HDTV :D

I agree with fohfoh that a 3rd monitor isn't all that useful (at least not to me). I primarily use the 2nd monitor for multitasking and the TV is for movies of course :)

Some older pictures:

Just now:

flash / no flash

(you never know what might happen, drink spills or you might kick it accidentally)
If I accidentally kick my computer I will hurt my foot but the computer wont move  ::)

PS. Logitech G5 rocks :D

Jarudin ~ is that a fourth monitor I see set up there.  Running an old CRT i see hiding there in the corner.  Props on the Samsung 6 series though.  Not a bad TV to run as a monitor.

No, it's a cheap ass 15'-inch TFT (the same one you see on the earlier pictures).
I'm not using it any more, same goes for the other PC still visible below the desk to the right.
The screen thing on top of the old PC is a digital photo album.

G5 does rock! Love it. I want the new one that came out. I may give this one to my brother. This is what google gave me:

http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/categories/departments/workspaces/11717

Which one is yours? And they're not cheap  :'(

Edit -- So far the closest to what you have:

http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/S99807372
http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/S09807404 -- i think this is the one that you have. and it's really wide

How come they're charging so much for this? It's like couple pieces of wood and standards and that's it ...
