~~Kemono no Souja Erin~~
« on: October 19, 2009, 02:01:07 AM »
I was just curious what sub-group was on par with good quality..
I've been very interested in the series but I wanted to follow along with a groups progress for once.

Any suggestions?

Static Subs seems to be the only group taking it seriously.

Seconding this. They have a nice, lengthy post here on why not to go with CR rips for this show, and they're doing an excellent job themselves. Plus they're pretty much caught up with the airing, so it's not like you have to wait a while for the quality sub.

Agreed. They are doing a very good job and they are only behind by one episode. Slowly but surely they are nearing the end, aren't they? About 10~ episodes to go.

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

can someone fill me in exactly on what kinda story it is? it sounds kinda goofy, but i saw tradgety in the tags. Is it a comedy? action series? drama? tradgety? what?

sory I'm late I dont really be having the times for animes/baka yesH?

ANYYYYYYYway
there's a good 1-25 batch on one of the public trackers
you can torrentz it

I was surprised, I think its running a 1:1 ratio too, picked it up in neigh four hours.
From there you can either wait for anther batch or download individually
but atleast you can get a good feel for the show, and the quality really is superb.

Well, not SUPERB
but very very acceptable by batch/ regular public tracker standards

This is one of my favorite airing anime atm. Bascially the story progress' by following one girls life, Erin. When the show starts it has her has a younger girl living in a village with her mother who is basically an animal vet for a type of big lizzard that poeple ride in combat. The show goes on to show what happens throughout her life. As the show goes on it has her get older bit by bit until the current episodes where she is an adult. There isnt a whole ton of action, there is some though and there is political stuff but, most of the anime is just focused on a story yet I find it really good. If you liked something like 12 kingdoms were the anime focused on a story about a character, 12 kingdoms had a few characters they showed to but this focus' mostly on Erin, you would probably like this as well. Its not super fast moving but I have seen up to episode 48 and its a very well told story.

I'm also watching this one. Atm I am following Static-Subs and their fansubs for this show. It is a little bit slow at times, but I nearly always end up enjoying the episodes. I think the only bad episodes are the two recaps and one episode where only the more or less funny sidekicks are shown. But otherwise, IMHO, it is a good show which can be enjoyed by nearly everyone.
Personally I'm looking forward to the finish, so that I can make a torrent for BakaBT. :)

tnx guys. ya i did the batch then just jumped on good old IRC (god i forgot how to use that thing lol)  and got the rest up to current from SS.. i may wait for it to finish before i start watching it since its so close

thats very good to know about the character progression. I certainly have no problem with slower stories as long as they have good solid character dev. I enjoyed 12 kingdoms (though the ending was kinda weak they didn't resolve one of the stories they were working on)

I cant remember the last show i saw where the characters actually grow up over the course of the show o_O Im getting near the end of moribito right now and enjoying it a lot so all signs point to me enjoying this =) the only thing is the arts a little bland but i can live with that

woot. Been a while since ive seen a decent slow paced show. Last GREAT one i saw was probably monster

personally I like the low key animation and more rounded object structure
the color is great and when the action beefs up its all very fluid and exciting

wtf.. does anyone know why the hell static subs episode 48 is 500 friggin megs big?? Id post on their site asking but you cant register an account.. I dont know if they didn't bother coding it properly or what but from what i can tell its the same length as any other ep, i dont understand why its half a friggin gig big, thats beyond insane. I would just grab another group for that size but theres no one else thats really done it

christ.. 500 megs. I was waiting for this to wrap up before i watched it.

Ask in IRC if registering doesn't work.

I'm surprised you didn't complain about ep. 27 then, that was over 650MB. For that episode, they mentioned on the site that trying to keep the filesize at the usual 350MB made it look like total shit, so the filesize went up to keep the quality reasonable. I'd imagine it's the same issue with this episode.

Besides, it's hardly unprecedented. Just look at AonE-Menclave's release for Ep. 25 of Macross F, over 700MB right there. Hell, any Thora release is given to be gargantuan in size (lol 2GB for one episode of Basquash). I hardly see what the deal is here.

So I downloaded and watched this show in one week.

Kemono no Souja Erin had to be one of the best animes I've ever seen. The only word that even comes close to describing it is absolutely beautiful. Although it isn't a fast-paced, action-packed thriller, its unique art style plus its captivating story had my eyes glued from episode 1. At times this show was heartwrenching, at other times happy, and at other times relentlessly....... pleasant. Loved the beginning, loved the bulk of it, ADORED the end. I highly recommend this anime to anyone and everyone.

One thing I didn't like about it, though, was:

All in all, this show became one of my favorites, and I'm actually satisfied with the ending, and am not dying for a second season.

But hey, that's just my opinion  ;)

P.S. for those who have watched this, did you find yourself frequently doing this:
