godofcheese, Doki is releasing some really good copies as the BD's come out. They only have 3 episodes like that up so far. And they're HUGE for 720p files... like ~500mb per episode. But, the quality is outstanding.

The TV version was extremely censored. The Webcast version was still slightly censored, though it was mostly unnoticeable. The Blu Ray version is completely uncensored.

Fucking outstanding! :) thx
.. but 500mb/episode?, maybe i will re-encode them later to make them smaller XD
But will follow doki with this release, thx again  ;D

Yeah... they sound kinda dumb too since they defend the file size saying that's the smallest it could be for the 720p files... (lol?)

Idd, nowadays you have about 1TB+, so 500MB is nothing
But tho,...it's still too big for a 720p file., AB's 720p is ~250+

it all depends on ammount of items in display and hightened quality, and dynamics, if it was possible to have it lesser than 500 l'm sure they would do it, encoding means also compressing the video, wich in some cases is dificult, 900mb katanagatari o_O?

if the program can't do anything more you can't help it, maybe they squeze the CPU too hard and it's reaching it's limits as well.

Well, the past 2 months with doki that i've seen... they have it rough, 'cause of IRL stuff... so maybe they are just lazy? and doesn't care about trying making it smaller
Cuz' I've Encoded some Fate/Stay Night 1080p Episodes, they were ~480mb/episode, and i Encoded them down to ~180mb with no Major Quality loss, think i just lost 400bitrate of the video.. so i think doki is just lazy.

l still have my record breaking encode of Elfen Lied that l made, entire series in 340mb, OP/ED cut out, only the first and last eps have them, 800x600 res, l stopped doing encoded a few years back but it's definitly possible to do decent encodes in small files, but you need good shit to do it.

The ENTIRE Elfen Lied? :O
that's nice ^^
Well, i started with Encoding etc 4 months ago... getting better and better, ^^ i think it's fun xD
But yeah, you need "Good shit do good things"

But check out my youtube channel, I've uploaded some of my work there,
Some videos that I am proud of, and some I'm not
none of them is over 20mb,
The K-On specials are only ~2mb XD 1080p XD

I have yet to see a blueray sub that is 720p and has a filesize only 250 megs, 400-500 is normal for 720p bluray. Also filesize really isnt that big a deal unless you are really cheap or something. I mean right now 1tb drives are like 100 bucks and if you want to maximize space can always buy drives up to 2tb's for personal computers so I dont really see the issue unless you have no money or dont save anything.

I watched the first two episodes of this. They're Chibi-Doki's BD rips. I have the first three episodes. Its not as bad Queen's Blade in terms of its non-hentai-esque parts, but its more like softcore anime porn than QB is. I don't know if I'm going to watch past episode 3. I doubt it. I'll likely watch episode 3 because its already on my HDD.

The file size is...... HUGE~!
But they're the only competent encodes available right now so, no choice.

I like it so far, but I've only watched episode 1 to be honest... I'll watch episodes 2 & 3 since they're already on my hdd. But, I'll wait for more good 720p releases before grabbing the rest. I won't bother watching the bad quality releases lol...

But isn't there is another choice -- Chibi-Doki's 480p BD downscales?  Those are only ~220 MB per file  :o  I haven't started watching this series yet, but I know what version I'm going to collect. After all, it's pretty rare to get low-res HQ/uncensored versions of anything these days, so I must salute Chibi-Doki's efforts.

Got any old fansubs on HDD/DVD/CD? Please take a look at this thread.

Same group, but no.
True, it is rather hard to find BD downscales these days.

hehe, yea my standards are more the beer googles kind, if the show just have a lil something appealing to me, i usually give it a go, even tho i know deep down ill regret it once its over, since i could have problably gotten into a better show if i had given it a lil more time;)
