Firefox AniDB search plugin

More tips in case anyone needs to know:
In Firefox 3 (can't remember exactly which version this was included OOTB) there is built-in support for search keywords. In the search bar dropdown box, select Manage Search Engines, select the search engine you want and click Edit Keyword. For older versions of Firefox, search keywords are enabled via the SearchWords extension.
So for instance, I have 'adb' set as my anidb search keyword. Typing 'adb saint tail' in the address bar automatically searches AniDB for the string 'saint tail'. With this, you can remove the search bar already ;)
If you're comfortable with editing program files, you can easily add other AniDB searches. Go to your Firefox profile folder, look under the folder 'searchplugins', find a file labelled anidb.xml (after you have added AniDB search engine from mycroft.mozdev.org). In that file, look for the following line:

See the part with "show=animelist"? Change 'animelist' to something else to get a different search.
grouplist --> group search
characterlist --> character search
userlist --> user search (stalkerrrrr...)
mylist --> search your own anime list on AniDB (must be logged in)
Just create more copies of anidb.xml, give them unique names (such as 'anidb2.xml', lol). Then in each file, find the section

Modify it to give each search engine different labels in the search box.

Get Research Word add-on for Firefox and add this search string in the options for it;

Now you can search for animes in AniDB simply by highlighting the name and right-clicking
I can't use the method you described as my firefox 'lacks' the search bar (a bit customized, perhaps too much...) but this should work almost as well ;)
For adding different lists, just add more search url entries in the options (and clear out queries you don't need to make space for them)

any possible way to add two search engines, one next to another instead of using just one? would love to have one for anidb and other for google.

You can put the search toolbar back by going to View -> Toolbars -> Customize. From the buttons/menus/toolbars available, look for the Search Bar and drag it to wherever you want it on the Firefox toolbar area.
It's kinda troublesome that there isn't a separate menu for editing search engines so I have to put the search toolbar back every time I want to customize them, and then remove it again, but thankfully I don't do this too often :)

Could take a look at http://www.oxymoronical.com/web/firefox/Thinger.
Although with search keywords I find I never have to use the search bar. Just copy the search term, add the search keyword in front and go. And repeat for any other search engines you want to use the search term on. It's too troublesome having to change the search engine each time, and I regularly use at least 10 search engines...
