I have the same plan as yours and I'm getting 1.6Mbps download speed. The problem probably is with your line.

There isn't. Before this, there was one time where everything went down for a day and apparently their settings went back to default and *EVERYONE* suddenly had 2+mbps. It stayed like this for a couple of weeks while they put everyone's account back in order and i was suddenly back to 300kbps. It pretty much proved that they *CAN* give us the 1mbps they advertised on their posters, they just didn't want to.

And then there was the one i posted where the service center and the on call technician *ADMITTED* that they were shortchanging us. And the fact that the one i'm on now is supposed to be for the 2mbps, even tho that two week glitch pretty much proved that our area is supposed to be able to handle the sustained bandwidth of well over 2mbps with no problem. That was 2 solid weeks of 2+mbps downloading with zero slowdowns.

When it went back to 300kbps. I called, and guess what, they said that it was what i was supposed to get under the 999 plan.

Lack of government control makes it easy for hegemony companies like PLDT to make fun of their clients.

Figures.

Price: $70/month
Speed:  Quoted as 20/6.
Difficulty:  Business-class line.  No restrictions.  No blocked ports.  No filters.
Drawbacks:  We're out in the woods ... sorta ... so the service is sometimes spotty.   It's generally WAY better than Comcast.   Biggest upload I've ever got was 6Mbps.   Usually runs a lot lower than what we should be getting.

+1 Same as my connection. Ever since they lifted all the restrictions and gave me no blocked ports and no filters, everything was going super blaze. No problems and been loving it.

I wish we had a better choice then Comcast around here, but to no avail we have either slower DSL or Comcast. My internet speed at it's low matches my friends at it's peak and he pays 60$ for DSL. Though he doesn't have a bandwidth cap monthly or blocked ports nor filters and restrictions

Another +1 for the hate again because you guys got the Saab 90, and have enough 99s to treat them like old junkers. Saab fans in America have to fight over rusted out shells, you know! :(

Monthly Fee: $28
Bandwidth: 5M/800K (actual sync is 3000K/500K)
Country: Canada
Service Provider: Teksavvy (Bell Canada reseller)
Package: "Premium home DSL" as bell Canada is greedy bastards and limits resellers to 5M/800K max profiles while they overcharge on their faster internet (ADSL2+). Also while Bell's packages are faster, they throttle.

200GB, it's actually not too bad. Ping is fine, speed is bearable, no throttling with MLPPP. The only issue I'm facing is Bell being greedy. They are trying to fool the CRTC into usage based billing for resellers, on top of what we are paying now. Which is a bit outrageous.

Per Month: 53 euro

Type: ADSL
Bandwidth: 24M/1M (in practice ~18M/0.9M) (upgraded from 8M/1M half a year ago)
Provider: TeliaSonera (Finland)

No caps (I think, record after the upgrade is ~1,5T down during a months time, and that only because I had enough free days/time at the time and so could abuse irc to fullest...)

I remember reading an article about a medium sized town that got fed up with Comcast and the other 2 internet providers jerking them around.  I believe the whole thing started with trying to get the lines for the schools up to date.  Local gov't asked them to bring the area's lines up to date, but they wouldn't do it.  So after going around and around with all the internet providers in the area charge everyone the same prices for slower speeds b/c of older lines, the local gov't decided to put in their own fiber network.  They offer something like 10Mbit/10Mbit connection, not caps, and a slew of other features is there basic package to their residence for something like $30.00 a month.  The next step up was something like 25Mbit/20Mbit i think.
Anyways, the local gov't said they were charging just a bit over cost to pay for the installation, and figured within 4-5 years they will have paid for the installation and will then be putting the money into a fund for repairs or future upgrades.  I will see if I can find the news article again.

I just wish I could get something like that here.  Best I can get is the $115.00 bundle for cable TV - cable internet (8Mbit/ .75Mbit) and phone.  I have a cell, and was going to ditch the phone, but it would have cost me $5 MORE a Month w/o the phone.  I believe the internet by itself is about $50.00/month if you just get it.

Just remember,  before you criticize someone, walk a mile in there shoes.  That way you are a mile away and have their shoes. :P

Monthly Fee: $129 (was around $60 for the first year)
Bandwidth: 25mpbs up/down no cap
Country: United States
Service Provider: surewest fiber
Package: price is for fiber internet and a phone line
Performance: awesome, ftth is nice, no monthly download caps and service rarely goes down. theres a 50/50 tier but its almost 200 a month, way too much for my blood.

my second connection at the gf's place

Monthly Fee: $89
Bandwidth: 14mbps/1mbps dsl
Country: United States
Service Provider: frontier
Package: basic local phone and interwebs
Performance: totally horrible, our dsl services goes down every night and I get 500+ ping in any online game. They route any google traffic from the west coast to east coast then back  so anything google related lags like hell or takes forever to load.  :'(
