Up/Download amounts inaccurate?
« on: October 24, 2009, 08:13:12 PM »
Hey guys, I read through the FAQ, and I'm pretty sure this isn't there, but someone please direct me to it if I happened to miss it.

For some reason, some of the up/download amounts listed on my userpage are incorrect. For example, some of my files have finished downloading, but the amount downloaded is lower than the total file size. I did stop the torrent and restart it, but to no avail. It's weird, because it does update every 50 minutes, but not necessarily the full amount. This happens to some of my uploads as well.

...which leads me to my second question...

Will the files I helped seed but didn't download from bakabt ever be placed in the "seeded" category (they're over 1.x already), or will they stay in the "incomplete" section until I actually re-download it from bakabt?

Thanks guys, my userpage is at http://bakabt.me/user/876212/asdf1248.html if anyone wants to refer to it.

Did you, at some point in downloading those torrents, happen to restart either a) your pc, or b) your torrent client?

If yes to either, check your client for the graceful shutdown option and enable it. Then restart the client.

In uTorrent: Preferences -> Advanced -> bt.graceful_shutdow n

Does hibernating my computer (or being disconnected from wireless) count?

It was already on, but I turned it off, then back on, just in case. Thanks!

It counts, but don't worry about it too much, it's nothing serious...
As for your question read the http://forums.bakabt.me/index.php?topic=20632.0

Only if you didn't stop the torrents first. If you stopped the torrents before hibernating, then what I mentioned is likely unrelated (but still useful). :)

Which is to say, in a roundabout way, that if you didn't stop the torrents first, then thar be ur problem. ;) (edit: :P well maybe)

Ah, might be the problem. I'll be sure to take care in the future, then (well...I won't be able to help being disconnected from wireless, but...yeah). Thanks, guys!

Momentary disconnection wouldn't cause the problem. Losing your stats because the stats were never sent is what I was alluding to. ;)

Anyway, hope it helps :)

It's not really a momentary thing, though...it's probably something to do with my wireless card, but sometimes it just disconnects, then refuses to find any wireless networks until I restart the lappy. Will it still send the stats after I restart?

Sorry for all these questions, I just want to know when I have license to freak out.

no. your torrent client will attempt to "send the stats" when it is shut down (for the system restart) at which point you obviously don't have a internet connection.

and no reason to really freak out about it, you shouldn't loose more than perhaps 10% of your upload through things like that.

The torrent stats around here are imperfect. I'm probably missing a good hundred gigs up and down because of server downtimes and such. So, don't worry too much if your stats are a bit off. Everyone else's are too.

This happens, tracker goes offline or your connection's bad, up and down traffic stats not recorded.
Its both good and bad, as your download wasn't tracked at that time and upload stats too.
