Tetsamaru, my guess is some wierd software you have installed, but you seem pretty sure so I have no idea, good thing it's working now.

*Lol, weird situation forums itself in Takeshi's thoughts*

How about just asking him? Would be a lot easier, both for Tetsamaru and your father's back. :D

Thats the think. He did NOTHING. My dads computer illiterate. It just started working again :S

Lol, your dad could be quite handy as an IT-supporter, all he would need to do was touch and *poof!" it's working again! :D

I can understand why you're wondering when you've been at it for 2 hours or something and then your father comes along and does it on 2 minutes.

As I understand it, a recent auto-update from Microsoft has been a massive screw up (especially for XP users). My Firefox caught it and disabled it, but I had to completely uninstall my .NET framework to get my computer to enter standby mode again. It's only certain computers that it seems to be eating. It messed with my roommate's web browsing too until his firefox disabled it. I would blame Microsoft. They're responsible in one way or another :D

psyren:
Sounds like a DNS misconfiguration or someone's been messing with your hosts file. Most likely the former.
