I assume that they are talking about BitLocker. BitLocker is only available Ultimate. 99.9% of people will be running Home Premium because that's what will come on their computers. They're freaking out over nothing. It's not like full hard drive encryption didn't exist before now anyway.  ::)

Some people really go to great lengths just to get their face on the front page of the local newspaper.
Not to mention the government down under don't trust the internet and only what they know from their misinformed advisors.

I find it amusing that they are complaining about the fact that data encryption does exactly what it's meant to do. To keep nosy people from looking at files the owner doesn't want them looking at.    ::)

And what are they gonna do about it? Oh, I'm sorry people aren't using this tech exactly how you want them to use it. This is like complaining to a company that makes ski masks because people use them to hide their face in a bank robbery...

Why are you stunned? This isn't exactly new technology. Just because Microsoft puts this in their new OS (that only comes in the most expensive worthless edition anyway) doesn't mean there's going to be some sort of rise in pedophilia. They make it sound like they just found out about data encryption for the first time.

BTW, that article has loads of spelling mistakes. Someone needs to start using spell check. [/grammar-nazi]

This makes me laugh i dont know to much about encryption but i do have Windows 7 ultimate maybe ill play around with it.
