If OSX confuses you....I don't see you fairing much better with Linux

Under no circumstance would I recommend running Ubuntu, or any other Linux from a flash drive of any type. Flash drives are good for seek-times, and small transfers. This makes them good for stuff like paging, but they still suck for running the OS and applications as they fail miserably compared to a regular HDD.
If you want the best experience from both, partition your HDD and dual-boot proper ;) and don't try that Windows install method for Ubuntu. :P

I tried installing and also just loading Ubuntu from a DVD where I had just burned the image file I had downloaded from the official website. Nothing worked. I would choose "install" or "just run without any effect on your computer". The DVD would run for maybe 5 minutes and then go silent while nothing happened on the screen for those 5 minutes.. I installed Win7 again. The only reason I tried to do so was that my math teacher praised Ubuntu as being the closest Linux alternative to Windows XP. I gave it a go.. meh... does anyone know what went wrong? Should I just have let it run further?
Sorry for "stealing your topic", Mikan. :P

I have a dual startup for around half a year now. I use windows when I want to play Pangya and openSUSE for all else. It was kind of a problem to update my Nvidia drivers, but once i had it, the video runs A LOT better than in windows. I can see transparent windows with video moving around from desktop to desktop without lag, and really belive I have a good PC. You should first download a few live CD's to see which Linux distribution you like, and be ready to use the forums to solve all your issues. Have fun and accept that we cant live without windows, but we will keep trying!!!!
