Winter 2009 Anime
« on: October 31, 2009, 08:33:54 AM »

New season, new anime.

As I did with the previous seasons, I'll update the image when the new version comes.

Not to worry, none of them even look remotely interesting, apart from the sequel OVAs, which mostly ride on the coattails of their prequels... (some impressive coattails they are though, in the case of Nodame Cantabile).

"From the creators of Baccano" is a sure head-turner though :D

New season, new anime.

As I did with the previous seasons, I'll update the image when the new version comes.

to my list, aside from the ongoing intrests:
1-Durarara! might be fun
2-GORE AND BLOODDY yeh DotVB might be interesting
3- So ra wo to no, hmm, l'll give it a try
4-Hanamare Kindergarten, hmmmmmmmmm, lolis in the miniversion, slight perverse but l'll check the first ep.
5- l'll give it a shot.
6-Katanagatari, l sense comedy attempt, well see about that
7-Qwaser, hmm, this is far too echii, but l'll hold my opinio untill l see ep 1.
8- Baka to test... -another comedy with ridiculus plot. might be fun .
9-Hidamari - slice of life, too early to say anything yet.
10-Hidden God could be interesting.
the last 3 series might be also worth a try.

thx for the update lupin.

When I first saw these I thought there wasn't much there however after looking into a couple I am actually really interested in a few of these.

The one that surprised me most was Hanamaru Kindergarten. The description made me wonder so I read a few of the manga and they were surprisingly funny. I didn't think that preschoolers trying to hit on their teacher would be possible but they make it sweet and comic. I will probably watch it purely for Hiiragi.

Dance in the Vampire Bund is really good according to some of my friends so this perks my interest. So does Durarara for the Baccano creators. Katanagatari looks like a nice show with its art style.

Alot of the others also don't look to bad so I will probably look at them too. There are problems I can see with some of them but I am willing to look past them for the good points.

[MAL] | Nothing is either good nor bad but thinking makes it so.

Actually, So-Ra-No-Wo-To looks like it might be great.
K-On X Toshokan Sensou... ._.
Did you even read the description? How the fuck is that similar to Toshokan Sensou? Uniforms? Please.
The character designs stick out like a sore thumb, but the premise(getting some serious Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou vibes here) is interesting for a slice of life show, and the promo was rather good.
Durarara!! - Baccano crew and Suzuhito Yasuda's character designs? I'm sold.
Dance in the Vampire Bund - manga wasn't that good, but it's Shaft, so I'll be watching it.
Hanamaru Kindergarten - Gainax. I'd watch it just for that, but what I read of the manga was pretty funny, so it looks at least entertaining.
Katanagatari - note that the original is by NisiOisin, and he sold his work to me with Bakemonogatari, so that's on my list too. And it has an interesting art style.
And of course,
FUCK YEAH MORE HIDAMARI SKETCH!

Not much in the winter Season seems too interesting to me, I'l probably only pick up 2-3 shows

Definitely

Nodame Cantibile Finale ~ YES YES YES YES YES!

I might pick up one or two of these....

Dance in the Vampire Bund ~ blood and violence yes please, but who knows... Gets a plus for being Shaft
Katanagatari ~ Meh i'll check it out, plot seems interstesting
Hidden God ~ Don't have high hopes but could be interesting...
Omamori Himari ~ Looks interesting from the plot.  But again no high hopes
I have typed these words and you have been forced to read them.  Now you can go cry in the corner if you like :)

Everything on the list, with Dance in the Vampire Bund as #1 to watch! Manga kicks so much ass, and the anime is done by SHAFT! Woot, woot!

Naw, I just saw "realises her dream to join the army". It gave off a very forced-conflict vibe, like a war was written into the story just for the heck of it.

The first image that actually came to mind was Strike Witches, but SRWNT didn't seem so terrible that it warranted such a comparison, so Toshokan Sensou was the next thing I thought of on the spot >_>

Yeah, the character designs do irk me, and the female-protagonist-joins-military premise has been done quite a few times already. But I've been wrong about first impressions before; and if it indeed manages to achieve what Stratos 4, Strike Witches and other rehashes on the genre didn't, I might pick it up. Sky Girls was particularly successful, but there's more than one way to succeed. I hope this doesn't just turn out to be a ground-based, music-centric version of that.

A few of the others (Katanagatari, Okamikakushi, Durarara) fall in the same category as well. That's the "wait and see, could be interesting but I won't watch until trusted opinions recommend it" category.

Probably will watch and/or sub Soranowoto. Other than that, nothing else is of much interest.

BTW: Tatsujin needs to get onto IRC for making me stay on all day yesterday and then not showing up. >.<
