Well, the basis was the same.  Otherwise, the development was vastly different.  One thing I liked about the second gig was the deviations from the main storyline.  It had some side-stories that were really cool.  I especially liked the one about the the boy that folded origami, and the girl that loved him... so sweet.  ^.^

I think you are confused. "Ghost in the Shell" is a movie, and "Ghost in the Shell 2.0" is the same movie with redone CG.

I prefered the original, but 2.0 wasn't bad.

Oh?

Oh well, hehe.  In my experience 2.0 refers to GiTS SAC Second Gig, and GiTS: Innocence refers to the second movie.

My mistake, then.

In that case, I still loved both!  The second movie seemingly tried to integrate a bit too much in regards to the philosophical references.  I think it was compensatory with relation to the original.  Still, I consider the second an excellent movie.

Wait wait... we're talking about the 1st movie and not the SAC series, right?

Ghost in the Shell 2.0 is a rehash of the first movie (1995), with parts redone or touched up with CG effects and digital art. As far as I know, the story is exactly the same, though some scenes might be presented differently. Not to be confused with GitS: Innocence or GitS: SAC 2nd Gig.

Ooooooooohhhh....  :P
