Release Date VS Chronology

(1/1)

i_am_otep:
There are some anime that have dvd bonus episode which fit somewhere between episodes. A good example would be Elfen Lied. The dvd bonus episode is like an episode 10.5. So, how do you watch it? After watching the whole series first? Or you watch it chronologically?

The same goes for some whole series. They sometimes make prequels. Again, how do you watch it? The prequel first? Or the first series that was shown first?

DaggerLite:
I almost always watch it after release date. I don't have a good reason as to why, but I usually find it interesting so. At least, for Haruhi I thought it worked out fine, even though it started out a bit confusing. It also works well for anime that aren't going anywhere with the story. The extra episodes are typically filler material, anyway.

Spice and Wolf is the only series that I can think of having done an exception. It was mainly because the story was put together chronologically, and watching the extra episode at the end wouldn't be very logical. The episode was set up to take place in the middle of the story.

The next time I watch endless eight, I'll set MPC to start new instances for each file and watch all eight concurrently.

morrefule:
I personally like to watch shows chronologically. But in instances like Haruhi where the anime is ment to be watched a little differently to get the full effect.

So If a series has a 10.5 or a ep 0 i'll always watch that first.  Especailly with one of my favorate Sola, the Extra episodes work very well when watched chronologically.

vuzedome:
I always go with the release date, then if i'm still interested will watch in chronologically.
