The phone you have is meaningless.  Who is your provider?  I'm assuming Sprint since it's an iDEN phone.

If it's Sprint, call them and see if your plan will carry over if you buy and activate a new CDMA phone like the Pre or Touch Pro 2.

If it's SouthernLINC, you're fucked.  The best phone is the blackbery 8350i, an ancient piece of shit.

Another thing, if it is Sprint, they have no plans to support that network after the end of 2010.  If they kill it, you'll pretty much have to switch to CDMA whether they honor your current terms or not.

I do have a nice unmarked touch screen phone from nokia. Its small, compact sleek and 8MP camera ^^ nokia phones are usually shiz, but this one isnt :O its SIM card though...why i havent tried activating it on sprint :/ need?

Another possibility is activating it with Boost mobile. Old Nextel's prepaid service. I believe they still offer an unlimited plan for like $49 a month or something but it might depend on your market. No contract required if you go that route.
